The English government apparently is bringing in proposals that ant English passport holder out of the country for more than 3 months is going to lose there entitlement to a doctor and possibly more,I myself have been informed by my medical centre I am no longer registered with my G.P. I have paid into the system for 50 years N.I. and tax, and now still pay tax on pensions, I am not sure how this affects Welsh Scottish or N.I. people.

This is not news. These regulations have been in force for many years although from memory reading the UK governments
website it has been extended to 6 months after which time one is classed as a UK non resident. It doesn't matter how much you have made in contributions. It also applies to the state pension (old age) you will not receive the annual increases. A European court found in favour of the UK government a couple of years .It's totally unjust and there have been several posts regarding these matters.

Nothing new here. I have worked outside UK for many years and this has always been the case.
Once you become non-resident you lose your entitlement to NHS care.

A female friend of mine returned from Spain after three years broke ,she was told the same ,after six months on a friends sofa , she was given a housing association one bedroom flat .
These rules only seem to apply if you attempt to return a short period use the NHS and claim benefits .
If you come back to live in the UK full time not a problem after a short time your back in the system.
It does help if you can plead poverty as well ,(remember they can check you out for bank accounts.)

Time to joinn the International Consortium of British Pensioners (you do not have to be retired), which is campaigning for pension equality for all retired British expats. The cost is about a third of the overseas development aid the UK gives to India each year! See this article: http://preview.tinyurl.com/nf6rz8j (opens a new window).

As for the rest, I saw a proposal, but have yet to find the link, which said that if you had 10 or more years NIC you would still get treatment on the NHS even if you lived abroad. I am not sure it that proposal only applied to people over 65.
