The old double standard is at work.

Whilst the eyes of the West were directed to France during the recent hostage taking and shootings, over in Nigeria Boko Harum was slaughtering some 2,000 people. Who noticed what was going on in Nigeria? Not many, and certainly not the major U.S. and Canadian networks. Perhaps the BBC gave it some coverage.

It happens with natural events too. When a few U.S. citizens die owing to a hurricane or tornado, it is a huge story on the western news, but the deaths of hundreds in Asia because of typhoons is largely ignored.

You're right, the BBC reports quite alot on Boko Harum. There was a BBC TV news report only last night.

UDON THANI — Police say they are looking for an Irish tourist who allegedly smashed a brick into the face of an Irish expat in Udon Thani province early this morning.

The victim, who said he teaches English at a local school, told police through an interpreter that he met a fellow Irishman traveling through the province and invited him over for a drink last night.

The Islamic State beheaded 21 Egyptian Christians over the weekend, propping the severed heads on the victims’ backs, a barbaric slaughter that led Reverend Franklin Graham to ask, “Can you imagine the outcry if 21 Muslims had been beheaded by Christians?”

So, no breaking news here since the slaughtered were mere insignificant Christians! If you have the stomach to watch the beheadings you can see it on the following site:

I would have thought the fact that 2 Muslim states (Egypt & Jordan) are now bombing the ---- out of ISIS is a pretty emphatic statement/outcry. :-"
