Yep, Sky news and 2GB could put a few extra antennas to broadcast to the outback.
Nothing stopping them doing that now - so why haven't they? Better they put up transmitters, though.

Another way to think about it - if both closed down tomorrow, very few people would give a shi.t.

On the other hand, if the government announced they were defunding the ABC, the country would be in an uproar.

Exact same as our publicly funded BBC, Barney.
Infested with Champagne Socialists who would never get such a well paid job in the real world.

Funny that, five of the current 6 directors of the Walkley Awards have come through the ABC ranks and or still working with the ABC.

Keep it up chaps! Rupert Murdoch is very, very proud of you.

For now, I mean.

Yet everything that a newspaper owned by the Scott Trust has to be believed without question?

Even funnier is the fact that the Directors don't decide the nominees or the winners. The current judging panel, that does, has 3 ABC members out of a panel of 16.

Funnier still the journalists who received the Pulitzer Prize for their biased coverage of the Russia hoax

No, just demonstrating that within the journalistic world there are awards made ( Walkley/Pulitzer) where the story content does not necessarily have to be accurate.

Congratulations to the ABC for taking a deep look at its internal culture around racism, and vowing to do something about it. Not in your widest dreams could you imagine a Murdoch organisation doing the same. Or the other commercial news organisations for that matter.
Well I was wrong to a certain extent about another commercial news organisation have a good hard look at itself - in this case, not focussed on racism, rather on a different scourge - bullying and sexual harassment.
Nine's culture of bullying and sexual harassment revealed after review finds company 'lacks accountability'

Bosses in Nine's broadcast division would belittle, intimidate, gaslight and sexually harass employees, and when complaints were made against management, HR would cover it up.

That was the key finding of a review of the company's workplace practices and culture, which revealed Nine Entertainment has a systemic issue with abuse of power and authority, bullying, discrimination and sexual harassment....

Congratulations to 9 for recognising, like the ABC did before it, that damaging organisational cultural traits need to be addressed and dealt with.

Not holding my breath waiting for any Murdoch related entity to do the same in Oz.

Is this a case if those pesky "alternative facts" again?
