True, but the Iran-Contra affair ended up before a Congressional Committee and being investigated. Correct me if I am wrong, but Oliver North, Casper Weinberger, John Poindexter, Robert McFarlane and others all got indicted for their respective parts in it. Notably the Courts vacated some of their convictions on appeals and in the case of Poindexter, a the D.C. Circuit overturned the that convictions several years later and then the Supreme Court refused to hear the case when others appealed that D.C. Circuit decision. Other were later pardoned by G W Bush, well after the even.jackspratt wrote: ↑July 13, 2019, 1:25 pmWas Ronnie Raygun still alive and giving advice in 2016?pipoz4444 wrote: ↑July 13, 2019, 12:23 pm
Now that’s a real good political decision, to give enemy organizations money to buy bullets and rockets to shoot back at you and or US citizens.......
......Ignorance or stupidity, in this case, by that Administration, as to the outcome of what Iran may possibly do with some of those funds, (given Iran’s past track record at that time), is not an excuse

Regardless of the eventual outcome for each person, it went through the Congress and Legal Systems, but that hasn’t happened yet, with the Obama Administration and their behind the scenes deal with Iran.
So why not drag those involved from the Obama Administration, in the more recent Iran issue, up before Congress and or an Independent Senate Committee and or before a Grand Jury, like what happened with Reagan and Co, and have them answer some pertinent questions.

So it has already been investigated by the Senate........the conclusion of a Report by the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations,..........
Why didn't they take it further, given the way politics works in the US - because perhaps, unlike Contragate, there was nothing illegal happened.

The Senate Permanent Subcommittee Report wasn't a full blown investigation and didn’t ask all the questions and certainly didn’t cover all the angles. Equally no one from the O A has had to front up before a Grand Jury and answer any questions. It’s a big difference if they go down that path, as some from the O A might have to actually commit Perjury.
You may even find out that Commissions (often referred to as Bribes) were paid by those involved (individuals and or Banks) to Others, which too is illegal. Either way I am sure some dirt will rise to the surface.
The facts that this money was paid in pallets of cash or different denominations, somehow collected together in US soil, then transported in several shipments by Military Planes (Jumbo’s), to Iran, has never been explained. First with one Jumbo carrying USD $400 million in Euros, Swiss Francs and other currencies, landing in Tehran. Only soon to be followed by another USD $1.3 billion in another Jumbo, all in Cash.
Question for You: Where is all this Cask actually come from i.e. who provided it nicely packed on Pallets in clear plastic wrapping, in different currency denominations? I can see Obama's secretary doing this packing/wrapping in the Oval Office with Obama counting from his desk.
You know you just can't go down to the local International ATM in Washington DC and take out a few hundred million in Euros, Swiss Francs and other currencies. I am reasonably sure those "International" ATM's, will run after withdrawing the first 1000 Euro's. So who or what Bank did come up with all the other Foreign Currency denominations and how much did they receive in secret commissions for doing all this?? The origins of the FC Cash and who did what with it and who was paid how much to handle it, has never been answered, to my knowledge.
Also notable the second flight of USD 1.30 Billion was allegedly “Interest Payment”, on what the first USD 400 Million, according to the O A . Yeh right?? Try and explain this or the calculation behind it.

You have conflated (or is that confused) 2 totally separate issues.
Again - if either issue had legs, the Republican controlled Senate - and until recently, House - would have been all over them like a poorly fitting T-shirt.
To quote Lone Star - do your own homework.

Trump's strategy is allying Europe against Iran
If Iran remains in the 2015 nuclear deal, they still have a problem with US sanctions destroying their economy and currency.
If Iran enriches uranium and abandons that agreement, they will alienate Europe and ally them with Trump. Look what's happening with the UK and France already.
No win for Iran either way.

Many things lost on most who talk about the Iran Agreement:
1. It was never approved by the US Congress -- as are most treaties/agreements between countries. It was merely an agreement between the Obama Administration and Iran. Obama acted unilaterally, which is why the next president could withdraw from the "deal" without congressional approval.
2. Iran never signed the agreement and even the Obama Administration admitted that the deal was not legally binding.
3. Iran never agreed to US inspections by outside agencies. Any inspections on military installations were also prohibited. Iran would inspect itself and file a report. If international bodies suspected violations, they would have to wait to inspect for 24 days.
4. There were secret side deals to the agreement that the US Congress learned of after the fact. The deal was never completely transparent.
5. All the deal did was delay Iran's march to nuclear weapons. Nuclear experts believed that by the time the 10 year deal was up, Iran could have nuclear weapons capabilities within 12 months.
It was called the "Iran Deal" for a reason. Iran got the deal of lifetime.
Who the hell would agree to something like that with the world's largest state sponsor of terrorism? (rhetorical question)

DOJ:
FBI:"Pourghannad is alleged to have sought to procure for Iran large amounts of carbon fiber—a commodity that can be used in the enrichment of uranium. U.S. sanctions exist to prevent behavior, like this, which endangers our country, and the Department is committed to vigorously enforcing them. Pourghannad and others who would attempt to thwart these laws need to know that their actions, which benefit Iran’s destabilizing efforts and make Americans less safe, will not go unpunished."
. . .
"Carbon fiber has many aerospace and defense applications, and is strictly controlled to ensure that it doesn't fall into the wrong hands. Pourghannad and his co-defendants allegedly went to great lengths to circumvent these controls and the United States' export laws. Together with our law enforcement partners, we will continue to protect our nation's assets and protect our national security."
If Iran was only interested in nuclear power, they could purchase nuclear fuel from many different places. There are countries around the world with nuclear power plants that don't enrich uranium. Iran wants the bomb. That's why they continue to enrich."Iran remains determined to acquire U.S. technology with military applications, and the FBI is just as determined to stop such illegal activity. The charges against these three Iranian nationals, and the extradition of Mr. Pourghannad, demonstrate we take Iran's actions extremely seriously and will work with our partners to defeat them."
. . .
"If you aid Iran in its efforts, you will be held accountable."

Re: Finally Some One with a Pair of Balls
So what's really happening in Iran.
In 1953, the US (aided by the UK) decided it didn't like the direction being taken by the democratically elected Iranian government, so they triggered a coup, to install the tyrannical western puppet in the form of the Shah.
That's where it all started.
Jump forward about 5 decades, and Iran again has a government that doesn't suit the plans of the US, and is starting to develop nuclear weapons - a direct challenge to the only (though implausibly denied) possessor of middle east nuclear weapons, Israel.
So things roll along for a while, and just about everyone recognises it may not be a good idea for Iran to have nuclear weapons. In the middle of this decade, the 5 permanent members of the UN Security Council reach an agreement with Iran to slow down their inevitable progress towards nuclear capability.
The agreement puts in place steps that ensure Iran will not have a nuclear capability for at least 10 years, instead of the likely 2-3 years in the absence of the agreement.
Of course, Israel squeals like a stuck pig, because it wants to maintain its position as the regional bully (and sole nuclear power), but the 5 UN members recognise that some control over Iran is better than none. And a state of equilibrium is achieved.
After all - what can happen in 10 years? Iran has shown in elections that more moderate political forces can develop. The whole complexion of the Middle East is in flux, and it is impossible to predict - for better, or for worse.
Enter the stage the Orange Farkwit. He doesn't like the fact that his predecessor has achieved a deal - after all, only the insecure narcissist Trump can be the "Master of the Deal". And Israel, the prime ME intriguer, is in his ear.
So in predictable fashion, and ignoring the other 5 parties to the agreement, the Bloated Orange Bloviator tears up the agreement, and throws the whole region into a state of even more volatility.
And here we are today.
