Obviously this is a big topic for the Brits. As a US citizen, I am a live and let live individual. I would hate to have my personal life under such a critical microscope. Why can't people just forget about this guy and his wife? Whether or not he has made mistakes, that is his business. Take the spotlights off this unfortunate family and worry about more important thngs.
