I feel sorry for Aussie taxpayers. I think Malaysia and China should foot the bill. The Aussies seem to have been really generous.

Where the hell is the best theory with this now at? A rogue pilot or a plane malfunction? I still favour a rogue pilot. That happened this year in Europe.

there was a cost sharing agreement in place GT, but Oz footed the majority of it as it was within their SaR area.

It was all about appeasing China, during the final negotiations of the Free Trade Agreement, that the search was extended.

If it was an Air New Zealand flight, or other, Fugro would not be invoicing the Oz tax Payers, for $90 Million !!

The Chinese have sent a vessel in to assist, ,once the weather settles down, they have a few hot spots to review with some underwater tech stuff.

OOPS! is this why they go missing one of Malaysian Airlines planes left New Zealand was supposed to be headed to Kuala Lumpur but the pilot eventually worked out something was wrong YEP he was headed to Australia, 555.

AN investigation is underway after a Malaysia Airlines flight that was meant to be en route to Kuala Lumpur took an unusual turn of direction towards Melbourne.
Flight MH132 left Auckland Airport for Kuala Lumpur at 2am on Boxing Day.
But the pilot noticed the plane was not going in the right direction after a few minutes into the flight.
Eight minutes after the plane took off at 2.23am, the pilot called air traffic controllers in Auckland to see why the flight was not flying towards Malaysia.
The New Zealand Herald reports it was heading south toward Melbourne.

An investigation has been launched after a Malaysia Airlines plane took off from Auckland Airport on Christmas Day and surprised the pilot with the direction it started flying.

Just eight minutes into the direct flight to Kuala Lumpur, MH132's pilot queried why his Airbus A330 was heading so far south.

He wondered why the plane was heading towards Melbourne and not taking a more direct flight path to the Malaysian capital.

Three more possible pieces of debris are found in Mauritius and Mozambique. The search is continuing until August and then it seems it's going to be curtains. On the search but not the thread. More pieces are likely to be found over time.

I have been following The Star newspaper artical about MH370 missing aircraft.
Over two weeks ago they recon it was found crashed in the Cambodian jungle.
Picked up by satellite. Strange after all the millions spent searching, no other media published!
The guy was going there to find it .Flying in and then trek over the jungle.
Two weeks past.... nothing! This MUST be fake news surely!

The pilot of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 was in control of the plane “until the end”, French investigators reportedly suspect, after gaining access to "crucial" flight data.

The readouts "lend weight" to suspicions that he crashed into the sea in a murder-suicide, they were cited as saying.

The revelations based on Boeing data came days after a new account suggesting the pilot may have been clinically depressed, leading him to starve the passengers of oxygen and then crash the Boeing 777 into the sea.

MH370 was on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014, with 239 people on board, when it vanished and became one of the world's greatest aviation mysteries.

In July last year investigators released a 495-page report, saying the plane's controls were probably deliberately manipulated to take it off course but they were not able to determine who was responsible.

The only country still conducting a judicial inquiry into the crash is France, where two investigating magistrates are looking into the deaths of three French passengers, the wife and two children of Ghyslain Wattrelos - an engineer who met the judges on Wednesday.

According to Le Parisien, they informed him that Boeing had finally granted them access late May to vital flight data at the plane maker’s headquarters in Seattle.

This included numerous documents and satellite data from Britain-based company Inmarsat.

The downing of Malaysian Airlines flight 370 was "almost certainly murder-suicide by the pilot", a former Australian prime minister has said.

Tony Abbott said that from "very, very early on", the "very top levels" of the Malaysian government believed veteran pilot Zaharie Ahmad Shah crashed the jet on purpose. Mr Abbott was prime minister when the Boeing 777, with 239 people on board, vanished on 8 March 2014 while it was being flown from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

A search coordinated by Australia on Malaysia's behalf - the largest in aviation history - failed to find the plane before it was ended in 2017.

The following year, a Malaysian-led independent investigation found the plane's course had been changed manually but did not name a suspect.

The cause of the crash would only be solved when the wreckage and black boxes were found, investigators said.

No signs of stress or abnormal behaviour were observed among the two pilots and none of the passengers would have been able to fly the jet themselves, while the pilot's family has long denied he was suicidal.

Debris that washed ashore in the western Indian Ocean was confirmed as coming from MH370 - indicating a broad expanse of ocean where it may have crashed after running out of fuel.

Speaking in a Sky News Australia documentary, Mr Abbott said: "My very clear understanding, from the very top levels of the Malaysian government, is that from very, very early on, they thought it was murder-suicide by the pilot.

"I'm not going to say who said what to whom, but let me reiterate - I want to be absolutely crystal clear: it was understood at the highest levels that this was almost certainly murder-suicide by the pilot."

He added that he had "no reason to accept" that the "Malaysians allegedly didn't want the murder-suicide theory pursued because they were embarrassed about one of their pilots doing this".

In response, one of the investigators, Malaysian police chief Abdul Hamid Bador, said there was no evidence of Zaharie's involvement and the plane's disappearance remained a mystery.

Investigators "explored every single lead and possibility" but found no conclusive answer, transport minister Hishammuddin Hussein said in a statement.

Former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak said a murder-suicide "scenario was never ruled out during the search effort and investigations, where no effort was spared".

The Australian-led search scoured 46,000 square miles of the southern Indian Ocean, while a private hunt by Texas-based company Ocean Infinity later searched a further 37,000 square miles of sea.

Australia, Malaysia and China agreed in 2016 that an official search would only resume if the three countries had credible evidence leading to a specific location for the wreckage.

But Mr Abbott said a new investigation should begin soon.

"Let's assume that it was murder-suicide by the pilot and if there is any part of that ocean that could have been reached on that basis that has not yet been explored, let's get out and explore it," he said.
