OUCH!

This brought back some very painful memories - for me and perhaps other Boston Bruin fans.

Many years ago, in the early 1970s, the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers were in a very tightly contested hockey playoff series.

For the deciding game of the series, the Flyers brought out Kate Smith to sing "God Bless America" rather than the national anthem. The place went crazy. The Flyers had never lost a game when "God Bless America" was played in lieu of the national anthem. That crucial game was no exception - the Flyers won.

I guess it falls into the category of doing whatever it takes to win - in this case hauling out Kate Smith.

someone pass me a tissue................................... :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:

now, if only the Flyers could play as well as she sings, instead of acting as dead as she is, RIP.

I think it must have been the performances of Ms Smith that the quote originated, "It ain't over 'til the fat lady sings" Of course, I might be wrong... :-"
