In my limited experience, I have found that most of the cashiering staff in the banks speak very little English, but usually there will be at least one member of staff, often the sub branch manager in the small in store branches who speaks reasonable English.

I don't have recent or up to date knowledge of Udon's banks, but a couple of years back, I found the sub branch Manager in the Big C sub branch of Siam Commercial Bank fitted that bill (i.e. spoke English well).

(If Stokiebaz wants to open an a/c for his daughter, I would suggest she would need to be living in Thailand).

Go to the Siam Commercial Bank on Phosri Rd. Assuming you're a falang-looking falang, Khun Mantana (Noi) will probably walk over to you and ask how she can help. She's the branch manager....speaks excellent English. She's probably the oldest staff member at the bank......easy to pick out in case she doesn't come your way.

If it's the same one I dealt with for my bank letter for Imm. I thought she was a total bitch only speaking to my wife and directing all questions at her. In the end when my wife stepped out, the mgr didn't have a choice and spoke to me in fairly good English, I was very surprised. Anyway, I got the feeling that my business was an imposition to her.

There's also a BKK bank branch at Big C and a bank rep there speaks passable English and provided me with excellent customer service.

I think you may have better luck at any main branch of which ever bank you choose.

The Bangkok Bank branch at 154 Prajak Road has a very nice young lady that speaks excellent English and very helpfull. She's normally around the foreign currency dept on the upper floor near to where the managers office is.
