150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
be careful, ask first what the charges are, as way back when, BB, had a 30 % charge and 45 wait, i guess to charge the lower rate in that period and post that. luckily the gal at international liked me, reconized the name and called me to inform me and ask if i still wanted to deposit, no thanks, mailed to states and deposited, as it was a payment of a loan to buddy that lost his funds in pattaya and i gave him money to hold him over till leaving. don't know if that made a difference, it shouldn't of, but wasn't from my name to my name account. good luck. ![Cool 8)](./images/smilies/icon_cool.gif)

Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
Is the 150 baht charge only at the cash machines and not over the counter at the bank?
Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
for each transaction at atm and counter there is a charge of bt150.
Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
dee I have no problem if it only 150 baht because I will get the T.T. rate which is much higher then you get from ATM withdrawal this way I can write a check for 1500 or 2000 and still only pay 150 baht that would be
good news as for waiting time if it took 30 days or less that would be good news also I was quoted 20 days
it all a test now let me see what happens

Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?

Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
Today was the first day that the Pink Bank (GSB) ATM located at Central charged me 150 bht for a 10,000 baht withdrawal. This is ridiculous. If you use a foreign ATM in USA, you may get charged only 1.5-2.5 USD (about 50-70 baht). Any other bank out there that doesn't charge yet? Any tips will be appreciated.

All things are relative!
It's much worse if one uses a foreign credit card.
IF I were to draw cash on my UK visa card, I would get stung for not only the 150 baht fee here, but also a withdrawal fee of £5.60 (about 275 baht) imposed by the credit card company at the other end, then stung on adverse exchange rates changing the baht first to dollars and then to sterling.
..... A definite no, no!!

Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
The kaskorn bank in central has found an even bettern way to rip off the farang!! The machiine will only dispence 10,000 at a time so to get 20,000 it costs 300 baht this has happened twice to me also they only allow 20 notes so they fill with 500 baht notes!!!! another cunning way to thieve from farangs..
Any way a story!! i withdrew from the atm at the paolo hospital to pay for the birth, any way it offered me an exchange rate, and said 20,000 baht 397 pounds proceed or not, so i did. when i checked my bank statement the exchange rate had been done here and my uk bank hadnt charged me for ERTF!! uk pounds had been taken from my bank, so checking 2 similar transactioins at different atms this one saved me 8 poundsa thats ab out 12 dollars to americans....

Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
The yellow ATM in Central Plaza (Krungsri, Bank of Ayudhya) still don't charge me the 150 baht if I use my foreign VISA credit-card. And because I have put money on the card (so in fact I use it as a debit-card), they only charge me a maximum of € 1,50 (about 75 baht) for a withdrawal. This is the only bank I know of that doesn't charge the 150 baht, but this only works on my VISA card.tony525 wrote:Today was the first day that the Pink Bank (GSB) ATM located at Central charged me 150 bht for a 10,000 baht withdrawal. Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
As far as I am aware Krungsri (Yellow ATM) do not charge anywhere (I have not used for a week or so).
That is with my direct debit card on HSBC.

Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
Question - does the 150B fee apply for Thai creditcards also?
Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
Not for my KasiKorn debit-card, however others banks (and even KK in another district/province) charge a 20 baht fee if I use the KK card.
Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
Does the UK HSBC bank debit card charge you 150bht for cash withdrawls at any Thai ATM machines?
Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
HSBC do not but the Thai banks do
- so, as far as HSBC are concerned I withdrew 10,150 & not 10,000 unless I use my little yellow friendly ATM
but i do have a 'Premier' account so get monthly charge and no individual foreign ATM transaction....if I had the bog standard account then HSBC would charge me for each foreign transaction as well - thieving ******** (and by that I mean ALL banks not just HSBC
)

.... and there is always the fairly considerable hidden extra charge that most UK banks make in the (in my opinion) unethically large spread that they take on currency transactionsBobHelm wrote:HSBC do not but the Thai banks do- so, as far as HSBC are concerned I withdrew 10,150 & not 10,000 unless I use my little yellow friendly ATM

Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
I have a question for all you guys that use foreign ATM cards. When you use it for purchases, like at Big C or Tesco, do they charge you a fee (other than the usual bank fees and spread where they screw you on the exchange rate)?
Re: 150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?
