150 Baht ATM Fee FOR WHAT?

Post by mortiboy » September 10, 2014, 4:31 pm

I dont know if I explained the situation correctly but I have a Bangkok bank card.
Funds is sent into that account every month from Barclays UK.
I can draw out any amount from Bangkok bank until empty. ( I do every month)!
If I need extra cash, I go to Bangkok bank (Tesco Lotus) Tell them I want "Cash advance"
All done in about 20 minutes. Take passport to be Copied and signed.
Not all banks have the facilities to use this transaction.
Maybe they did not explain the problem
Big C upstairs there is a bank ( I think Tanachart bank?) it is orange coloured
They also do this transaction. But once I went there and they said cant do. I see The teller on the phone at the back. Maybe verifies the credit card. If they say "Kreung see- uh" mean machine not work.
If they cant tell you they just say "Cant do"

Therefore, I would appreciate hearing from you or any other person on the forum who has used this method and saved on the fees. If I take 60,000 baht from the ATM's then that is a 450 baht fee right off the top. In the past I have read of other forum participants who have said that they go inside and swipe their credit cards at the teller and save on the fees. Would those people kindly respond with the name of the bank that they used and whether or not that service still available. Thanks in advance!
I use cash advance monthly. I bank with Bank of Ayudhya/Krungsri (yellow bank) in HomePro, but have also used the branch in Big C and one at Nongboa & Phosi rd intersection. I've never asked if they have a limit, mainly because I only transfer in the required monthly amount for immigration purposes, but I have transferred in up to 80K on one occasion.

Have also used Kasikorn (3 different branches), but have been told they have a 30K limit. Have also used the main branch Bangkok bank (2nd flr) and told no limit. Was also able to do it at the Big C branch.

*With the exception of the a 1% exchange fee (same as ATM) there are no bank transaction fees.
