Anyone know a place selling lawn edgers?

I've checked Global House and Home Pro already.

A manual one would do, too.

If not available for sale, I suppose I could bastardize a shovel or other tool and make my own. Thanks in advance.

Our gardener knows how to invert our weedwhacker so it performs like a lawn edger.....not against a rock edge, but when edging grass against a dirt border, it works very well.

I need to edge along a concrete walkway. Our helper will actually be doing the work; and using a bladed whacker would be very dangerous. I have a plastic wire whacker, but of course that doesn't do the job.

I have a regular bladed whacker (gas) and bought an attachment for the yellow hard plastic string or whatever it is made out of. I have a lot of wall area and fence to trim and it whacks nicely and is very durable. Global had some really nice electric whackers a while back but I don't think the string is as durable as the gas ones.
Hit 'em hard, hit 'em fast, hit 'em with the one they don't expect, and just keep hitting.

The problem with using a bladed whacker is safety. It may work for edging dirt/dirt, but one would have to hold it steady at an unnatural angle if edging dirt/concrete and it would most likely strike the concrete. Not good for the concrete, whacker, or operator.

Not really, you take the blade off and all you have is the sting which causes no damage. I forgot to mention that I have the back pack type whacker which allows the blade end to twist and turn more so than a two handed handlebar type of whacker. All in all, it is functional for both heavy brush cutting and trimming, but like everything else, it is just personal choice.

What brand and model? Where did you buy and how much? I appreciate the feedback.

I'll take some shots of it today and PM you later with details. Meanwhile, you can come out to my place and finish triming around my wall and fence and that way you can see if you like it or not!!

Our 13 year old Shindaiwa weed wacker finally crapped out on us after faithfully serving our 3 rai property. We bought a Honda 4-stroke for slightly less than the Shindaiwa. It's much quieter, plenty powerful, has a reliable Honda easy-start engine....and best of all, you can rotate the trimmer head at any angle up to 180 degrees left or right without rotating the engine. Our gardener especially likes that feature for trimming the borders.
Yes, I understand, OSHA wouldn't approve.

Here are the items my gardener (me) uses. If you use the string attachment on the whackers, you can trim without too many problems. You can rotate the heads, but wth the back pack whacker, you get a pretty good angle for trimming over the shoulder mounted one. The suicide mower works best on smooth, flat surfaces. I use face protection of course, but have been hit more with the whackers than with the mower. Surprising.

o they don't, most of them tend to be rubbish. I've been through several over the years. I don't know where you reside and what's available for shops in your area however, you can buy much more commercial strength used equipment through rental shops. These people maintain them fairly well but they're nevertheless going for a small opportunity. they often market them away less expensive after a couple of years depending on what it's.
You will know warm fluffy feeling you get when you buy something cheap?
Nicely it is lengthy because faded when you're coping with the pain associated with low quality.
I understand this is corny .....but.sooooooooooooooo accurate.
Buy a new one if you're able to. You'll want an outlet that sells industrial landscape equipment someplace near by? check your phone book.
