Your use of capital letters appears to be very condecending. Either you don't know how to type - or you have a very poor command of the English language - or ultimately - you are an arrogant plonker on your better days or ultimately, just a bloody wan*er. Substitue the * for a k and you will have it down solid.

I do belive that the Thais have already figured out what You are all about all ready.... =D> [-X =P~ #-o

Doc, as a teacher of English you should know there is a vast gulf between being candid and being rude. Bridging that gulf, as you have done, would here in Thailand, as I am sure it would in your home, Texas, bring swift retribution. I am no fan of Ntv postings, in fact I find them repetitive and boring. Now that is a candid remark. It may not please the poster but it should not cause offence.I really do think that rather than being defensive you should be apologising. Just my point for the sake of harmony on the forum.

Yes Val, I know the meaning of words. One does not need to be an English teacher to understand meanings of words.

Similar and even more candid responses have been made to the poster in the past - all of which he seems to either ignore or makes a feeble attempt to rationalize. Any degree of subtlety seems to be lost on the poster. To paraphrase a line we use in Texas (all hat and no cattle) I could have said that the poster was "all hammer and no nails" but that would be totally lost on him.
valentine wrote:I really do think that rather than being defensive you should be apologising. Just my point for the sake of harmony on the forum.
I am all in favor of harmony on the forum - which is why I do not respond to some posts directed at me on the forum, but instead do it with a private PM. The way that the poster talks about Thais is totally inappropriate - and he has been called to task on that in the past to no avail. Sometimes a bloke needs to be hit between the eyes with a 2 X 4 just to get his attention.

I will defend the Thais and Thai culture on this Board at all times when it is appropriate. They need someone on their side here since they do not typically participate on this forum. And, with some of the things that are said about them - I can understand some of their feelings about falangs - or as ntvillas2 so eloquently stated in his last post - "so many Weak men here."

So - no apology shall be forthcomming. Perhaps you might wish to expend some time and effort trying to sway the poster's opinions about Thais - unless of course you believe that his posts have merit to those feelings.

No, but surely an English teacher should be more aware of them?

I am sure the Thais would appreciate your spirited defence of them, but as you say" They do not normally participate on this forum"On the other hand , as you may be aware, I spend a lot of my time , not only associating with them, but also socialising with them. There are not many days in the week I cannot be seen treading the corridors of power in City Hall.

And what does that have to do with the price of tea at Tesco-Lotus?

Ahhhh - I see - you think / believe that because I happen to be an English teacher I should conduct myself as equivalent to a Saint.

Bull hockey!

Other than that being a rather pompous and arrogant statement, what in the h3ell does that have to do with the subject and the post?

Since you spend, as you claim, "a lot of (my) time, not only associating with them, but also socialising with them", seems to me that you would have had the gonads to set ntvillas2 straight about some of his attitudes.

Or, is it that because of your "lofty, self appointed position" that you can't take someone on - as you suggest an English teacher shouldn't?

To me, you aren't saying a h3ll of a lot here - other than blowing your own whistle - which is, in my opinion, rather meaningless.

For having been here for only 6 months - your rhetoric (way of speaking) sounds like you are an expert. Everyone has problems to face when they are here - but the problems can be made a whole lot easier through understanding and compassion.
ntvillas2 wrote:The posting Was about Building Work and That was That.
That is what the topic should have been about. But you turned it into one of slagging off on Thais.
ntvillas2 wrote:2"]Doc Thinks He can Slag people Off. but no English Teacher Ever would talk like this to Me.
Hopefully an English teacher would be trying to help you with your use of the written English language. For example - we "teach" people things - not "learn" people things... :D
ntvillas2 wrote:So Say Things that are not so nasty Old Man.
Yep. I am old - but not all that old. Other people tried to give you some well meant guidance in dealing with Thais - which you ignored. You kept on bulling your way through with your biased attitude - so I realized that there was nothing nice that could be said to you to change you attitudes.
ntvillas2 wrote:Blowing my Whistle Doc No Way. I am not and English Teacher.
An English teacher would also teach you something about reading comprehension (understanding what you read.) The comment about blowing a whistle was directed at Val - not you.

I have nothing personal against you, trust me. I just believe - as do others on this board - that your way of at the very least - talking about Thais is wrong and inappropriate. Perhaps after you are here longer than 6 months the things that you have been told will start to sink in.

You ain't in the UK anymore. You are in Thailand. Adapt and adjust. You ain't going to change anything.

Rather Pompous??? Isn't that a bit like the pot calling the kettle black??

At least my postings are, for the main, humorous rather than your rather arrogant approach.

Yes - I suppose that humor is in the eye of the beholder. Tickles the he11 out of me that you think that you are humorous.

Go back to "treading the corridors of power in City Hall." When you get some time from your busy schedule of power walks - tell us all what you have accomplished for all the falangs here in Thailand... :D
