Yes agree the Re-work on any project kills the budget. In the Normal world though if you have an Architect and the contractor does not comply with the drawings then it is corrected at the contractors expense. Yes i know that Thailand is far from normal when using western logic and principles.

Hi,
Papa, if you read my post I said 230V sockets in a bathroom, not 110Vs as in U.S., which according to the last regs. i read for the U.K., the 16 edition, which was six years ago. They might have got new editions out now but i cannot see this vital safety point being changed.
Yes anyone can put 230V socket in the bathroom, if they are foolish enough to do so, but in the U.K. it is against the regs.. Safety reasons. If you take it a step further, the U.K. elect. suppliers can go into your house to check the wiring, if they see a standard 230V socket in the B.room, they are within their rights to cut off your supply. You will not see a Qualifed electrcian in the U.K., putting a standard 230V socket in a bathroom.
I say again, what is the reason for putting a 230V skt. in your bathroom. I myself cannot think of one valid reason. Except to kill yourself.
It does not matter how quick the trip works, when i used to test the sockets in my workplace, you put the meter into the socket and press the test switch to short live to earth. It took between 8 to 12micro seconds to operate the trip, for a elderly person or one with a weak heart, it could still be fatal. But better than fuses. Also when were they last tested. If you look into the safety regs. it says that any voltage over 90V can be leathal. The voltage does not kill you it is the current. The voltage is the power that drives the current through, in this case your body. Volts(V) equals current (I) times Resistance (R). where R is your body resistance, and if you are in water or damp coditions this R is low. The V does not alter but the current does. i.e. I equals V divided by R. and the lower R is the higher I is.
I have only had one case of a elect. shock, and the safty devices saved me, but now i am in my seventies I would not chance it now. I would NEVER have a switched socket in the bathroom. The shower and heater switches etc. should be placed outside the B.R. I have seen a lot of places in LOS where the shower switch is placed in the bathroom. Lethal, in my way of thinking.

Hi,
Papa, now we ARE getting silly.
To answer your question YES i do have a water heater, commonly called a shower in my bathroom, I also have the mains on/ off switch for this shower on the outside of the bathroom, which when I was teaching electrical installation at Tech., was the correct way to do it, in my country. Also for a shower, like a cooker, you need a separate supply, and do not connect it to the ring mains in the house. But straight into the mains input of the house, after the elect. suppliers meter and fuse, have to say this in case people take it the wrong way. This is because a shower, like a elect. cooker, takes a lot of current, a 9KW shower will take about 40Amps.
As i have said, YES you can, if you want to, put the mains switch on the inside of the B/R. Up to you. Hope you do not electrocute yourself.
To test this theory about body resistance, get a multi-meter, set to the ohm's range. Grip the two probes, tightly, one in each hand and measure your body resistance, now get into shower and turn the water on and get your body soaqking wet. Now measure your body resistance. You will get a shock, pun intended, at the difference in the readings. This is why water and electrics do not mix. Yes you do need power in a bathroom, eg. shower and light. Still do not know why you need a skt.. Deadly IMHO.

My Bathroom Shower Heater is located on an outside wall under the eaves with the outlet pipe coming through the wall, something I inherited when I bought the house. It comes on automatically when I turn it on.

to keep this short , to me all these small water heater used here are way outdated , not really safe , and using way to much electric ( we've had them also in my country long time ago), i am using solar panel with a 200l water tank, works perfect for many years now, the only electric i use on this one is the back-up heater , and even here i have put a timer in between that only heat the water 1 hour in early morning, 1 hour in early evening..., only in the few months shortage of sun...of course purchase more expensive as the small heaters, but compared over long term , a lot cheaper... :D
