A proper chain link fence!

I am posting because I am a VERY satisfied customer. These two gents (the "chang" is outside the fence - the other is his local helper) diligently installed a 120 cm high, 144 m fence around the house/yard portion of my property. About 10 days start to finish, including a couple of clarification redos (his first time doing a full-on American-style fence). Remote opener will be added later.

Image

Things of note:

- Cut and twisted the top tips up for a barbed effect (hurts to just touch 'em!). Took the helper 2 days of just doing that.
- Welded blunter barbs on the gate to keep the birds from having a party on it.
- A thick "string" steel wire runs along the top of the fence to keep it straight, but wobbly. Woe to the kid/teen who tries to climb it. Also keeps birds and cats off.
- Kid/dog door
- Poles aren't capped, yet - on order
- Labor THB 34,000 (paid to his "boss" - not shown in the picture)
- Materials THB 40,000 +/- (self-purchased from Global House)

This guy is GOOD, and takes a lot of pride in both the quality of his work and the satisfaction of the customer. I highly recommend without reservation...I don't get to say that enough here in LOS, and it is a pleasure to do so concerning this guy. \:D/

PM for contact info.

Labor 34,000 baht?? Seems quite expensive. At labor no more then 200 baht a day 2 workers=over 80 days to install your fence.

Should have mentioned my wife's oldest son received a degree in computer science from Kohn Khen University and works at the Gov't Hospital in Nong Hahn, salary 12,500 baht a month. I guess he should have gotten a degree in fence building.

Don't know about here in Thailand, but in the USA, "chain link fence" = "trailer trash".

I prefer the simpler barbed wire approach to keep out the neighbor's water buffalo.

I have both barbed wire and chicken wire around and fence is not yet finalized. Some notes:
1. Kids still find their way over it even chicken wire is 90 cm and there is also barber wire at 90 cm and 120 cm. :? At this moment no use against kids.
2. Dogs still dig them under the chicken wire, because it is not digged into the ground deep enough. At this moment no use against dogs.
3. Chicken wire is a stupid name. We have one chicken coming every night, flying to one tree over the fence and also above our salad garden (over 2 meter high). So no use against chickens as it is now built.
4. Cats can jump easily 1.5 meter and they always find a place where to start. We have one coming across the fence (about 130 - 150 cm jump) and then next jump to the roof. Again 1,5 meter jump. No use against cats.
5. Snakes and other small animals can easily come, but also go. Usually problems is to get snake out from the property, not restrict it coming in. That is because neighbor usually has a chair or something else near the wall and snake can climb to one's property, but not find a way out.
6.Buffalo's are not coming in. So our fence is good for keeping buffalo's out. :D :D :D

A concrete wall can be a little bit better, but even over 2 meters height can not stop everything coming in.

You missed heat and movement sensors and cameras. :-k Must be 3 meters high. ;) To be honest, fence usually is made for person who lives inside it. It gives some kind of safe feeling -correct or not -who cares? Anyway in Thailand it also shows the property size better than some other ways.

All sorts of grass or ivy will start to grow over it and through it in no time and will be very hard to cut or pull out of the wire structure, unless you cut the grass on a dayly basis during the raining season.

That's why God told someone how to make Roundup.

I wouldn't want any poison on/in/under my property. There's enough poison used in Thailand already.

Gday mate

Just been reading your post, as I am only new here was unable to send you a message to get some contact information, was this done in Udon Thani ? sorry if I sound a bit clueless at the moment, but couldn't see the location in your posts. This is exactly what I am after as per my new topic I added.

If you could share the contact information that would be great, thanks again.

Thanks KD, nice post, and fence, LOL. Have installed before, myself in states, not the easiest to get right, but not hard either. A come-along helps, sold locally if anyone plans to do themselves.

"Trailer Trash", and where does that come from, as never seeing cyclone fence around trailers, and suburbia America has them every where, far from poor neighborhoods.

May look very nice as a green wall once covered with plant growth, and not hard at all to keep off with a trimmer, if that's one's choice.

Saw that a Global myself, will probably use on a different project, not as fence though.
