New condos
Not so long ago, there was news that a new condo building was going to be built in Udon. Is this still on the cards?

I seem to recall to have read somewhere on this forum that the plans have been postponed till the middle of this year.

The last I heard the project has been canceled, you may need to confirm with the developer though, their details are on the link Bob posted above.

Bummer! What a let-down!

If the project has been cancelled it would seem to fly against the logic of all the other development that has occurred during the last ten years in and around Udon.
It is quite amazing, particularly when you consider the popularity of condominium developments in other parts of Thailand (not only with westerners but with Thai people as well) that developers have been so slow to tap into the market potential for condominiums in Udon.
While they are certainly not for everyone, the lack of condominiums is a major gap in the Udon property market.
Although condominiums are generally more expensive per square foot they are (in my opinion) one of the most sensible property investments in Thailand for those wanting to maximise the protection of their own money in a property “ownership” market fraught with pitfalls for the unwary expat.
However, as with any major investment, it is still necessary to obtain appropriate qualified legal advice before parting with your hard earned money.
