Financing a house build

Post by Jello » January 28, 2013, 10:32 am

Has anyone successfully obtained a bank loan here to build a house?
My wife (who doesn't work and has no collateral other than the land we will build on) was told by SCB bank that she could get a 50% loan at 7% interest, based on my income. Has anyone gone through this process or know of a better deal?

50% is the standard where a foreigner is involved (someone correct me if that has changed). A reform policy put in place after the 1997 collapse. Most I know who used borrowed money to build here took a personal loan from abroad and paid "cash" here. More costly, but less hassle...
Enjoy this site much more by adding idiots to your ignore list (Friends & Foes tab).
