Hello, I'm am considering building a house in udon, and am considering doing a large portion of the work myself. I'm looking to get some rough estimates of material costs as well as any other advice that people with experience might have.
The prices I'm wondering about are as follows
Rock/gravel by the dump truck load
Concrete by the truckload
Days rental of heavy equipment
Also as I have noticed the style of building with steel roof trusses, did you have them fabricated on site or were they prefabed and at what cost?
Thanks for any suggestions or advice in advance

the first weird question that jumped into my head was ' does he need a work permit. ' someone will answer this I am sure.
we are toward the tail end of our build, and I will check the costs with ' she who must be obeyed ' and let you know, but our steel roof just came in lengths, and they cut and weld it as they went..I guess you could have it either way..thing is, you've got to be prepared when ordering things that the measurements are somethings wrong, even though they have measured the dam things beforehand, such as our big aluminium windows and roller door, now they have to do again..and the one window they did put in, it took me 10 seconds to break in from the outside...it can be a very stressful experience, and has tested my patience I can tell you..

A friend of mine, working in Dubai at present, has asked if I could make enquiries as to the cost per sq. m for housebuilding within the suburban area of Udon Thani.
Many thanks on his behalf.

From what I have read and understand three levels 2000, 2500, 3000 My house all most complete cost 2500 with a lot of freebies I think they may have been 2000 jacked me by 500 then gave me the freebies, you have to watch what they do and make them do it right a pain in the ar/se.
I live 25km out of UD and used local family builders maybe ripped off who knows.

In these days one should calculate with 12.000 Bht per one square meter of a single storey building = Bungalow according to so-called Farang-standards as far as electricity, fluent water, access points and isolation of walls and roof, residual energy savings are concerned..davecryan wrote:A friend of mine, working in Dubai at present, has asked if I could make enquiries as to the cost per sq. m for housebuilding within the suburban area of Udon Thani.
This amount is for a key-ready Bungalow excluding any furnishings
Please wear suitable clothing when attending a concert in Udon Thani. Slacks and short-sleeved shirts are ok, shorts, tank tops or muscle shirts are not.

waanjai, that would be a very basic house using cheap materials all the way. But possible surely.
