I too am no supporter of Sepp Blatter Brian....whether he is actually corrupt, I do not know but he certainly has done little to advance football in my view.
I think the 'South Africa' thing was a natural development though. Football is certainly a world sport, not just a European sport & I think it is only fair that Asia, Africa & South America get their fair share of events. As far as Africa is concerned, South Africa is really the only contender most of the other countries don't even have the wherewithall to feed their nationals, let alone organise a sporting event.
It is amazing (to me) how other sports are embracing new technology to help referees & ensure the correct decisions and football seems reluctant to do anything - except to look at 'did it cross the line' decisions.
Rugby, tennis and even cricket (always known to be run by a load of old fossils :D ) are all making huge improvements to the accuracy of decisions being made actually in a game...

i agree totally on the natural development and Africa so therefore South Africa having to be awarded the World Cup at some point.Maybe I`m over cautious but i think 2014 should have been the earliest date for consideration.Hopefully I`ll be proved wrong.I think it suited Sepp Blatter($$$) to award it to South Africa more than he thought it being a viable proposition.
I agree again regarding new technology, but at what level does it cease? It costs money to implement and I think it should be used in the World Cup and the 5 continents equivelant of the Champions league 1st,where there is concentrated television coverage already in place. Then leave it up to EUFA,South America, etc etc thereafter to initiate into their own FA`s.Maybe start in the top division of each nation. Its not possible to use it in(I`m scottish so I shall use this analogy) games between East Fife v Cowdenbeath but possible for Celtic v Rangers.Does this create a different governing of the game in the same country.I`m not sure what they do in Rugby,Tennis and cricket( :sleepy: :drunk: old fossils) at lower levels.Same as before I would imagine.

I had been involved (administratively) at very high levels, and had mixed with very high people in my chosen sport - International (ie non MLB) Baseball.

What I saw was head turning, and in some cases, disgusting. At that level the game becomes almost an after thought in comparison with it's leaders' pursuit of personal power, kudos and trinkets.

Sadly, what you say in no way surprises me jack.... :( :( :(
Brian, I think with cricket it is at test (i.e. International) level only & I doubt if it will ever filter down from that as not a huge demand to televise county (the next level matches down) I don't think the money is in it to support the technology.
Rugby is at top club sides & above only. Again I cannot see it filtering down to a lower level.
Football in the UK at Premiership level is all televised - every match. I think any additional cost would probably be zero. I understand what you say about lower leagues & some of the less supported teams from some counties. However I would think if the technology is already there, then why not use it?? After all it is usually after the event tv coverage that highlights these issues - if the cameras are not there then it is just the instantaneous thoughts of the crowd & referee.

put it this way , if they had used modern technology at the chelsea barca game , it would be the same final as last year . chelsea v man utd . now , do you not think that uefa would of wanted this , cuz i dont . they will get the final that they wanted , all be it by default . probably some statistition had already worked out the relevent revenues from all the clubs competing in the semis , and they ended up with the most profitable final . call me cynical , whatever , but you cannot tell me that chelsea did not deserve to be there on merit , and im certain that an all english final again was not on uefa s agenda . [-X [-X [-X [-X . and i would be very surprised if man utd were allowed to win the final .

Maybe Sepp Blatter does not introduce Modern Technology into football so games can still be "thrown". The 1st game between barca-chelsea was very well refereed(IMHO) but in all honesty, barca were maybe expected to win this game. When they didn`t win it,maybe it was a case of pull out all stops to get them too the final.Whether it be to prevent an all english final or simply because Barca had their name on the trophy as far as EUFA/FIFA are concerned, who knows. Both games of the Arsenal-Man.U semi`s were also well refereed. Why only a very dubious performance in the final chelsea-Barca game which seemed to sway towards the non-English team.
I am very anti Sepp Blatter( ) and believe he would blatantly stoop to anything to achieve or gain what he wants.I also think he surrounds himself with yes men who will kow-tow too what he wants.I believe Platini(forget how good a football player he was,he is now a very important football bsiness man) and David Taylor are of this type.David Taylor is ex-SFA head honcho who could not organise a pi** up in Nutty Park or Day and Night equally.I was shocked to learn that after Presiding over the likes of East Fife and Cowdenbeath he is now an important decision maker in EUFA.As Jackspratt mentions"personal power, kudos and trinkets".David Taylor is that very person.
Introducing modern technology puts away all doubts of top-level game influencing.

^^ Yes. I brand people or teams who issue death threats over a game of footy as scum.

I used to go and watch the football at Gulliver's in Bangkok, and it was always the Chelsea scumbags who ruined the evening for others in there with their foul mouths and foul tempers. I never same the same level of twattery from any other clubs' supporters; not even Man U!

A Brit friend told me about a bar in Pattaya that caters only to Chelsea supporters. The place is named "Dog's Bollocks" and ALL non-Chelsea supporters or even non-footy fans (and their teeraks) are thrown out of the place bodily for no other reason than not following the bar's preferred team. The friend is a Chelsea supporter, of course. Any truth to this? I dunno but I'm gulliver, er gullible.

Im sorry to say that is an urban myth. Years ago when the bar was first opened as a Chelsea bar by Chubby and Steve the joke was that Spurs fans were barred from there. A few years back the place was sold to an Arsenal fan, a very affable chap called Jeff, who has retained all the original fixtures and fittings. When speaking to him recently he told me business was as bad as it has ever been. So supporters of rival teams are in greater danger of being thrown INTO the bar rather than out of it.
Joking aside if you are a footy fan and your around pattaya drop in, if only to look at the various Chelsea paraphernalia and the photos of the original owners having punch-ups some 20-25 years ago.

Over the road from Day & Night, turn left towards Ice Bar and just past Nobis I think :D .
Not a huge place, good atmosphere but does get quickly filled up if there is something watchable on....

Has the Pizza/Pasta place next door shut permanently now? I've not seen it open for ages.

Why do you have to call people scum, what sort of mentality is that? There are good and bad in ever clubs supporters, the good always out weigh the bad.
