Yes, arguably the Colonials take their Rugby more seriously than people in Blighty, maybe I should emigrate.

So I guess if someone phones up & says can I watch cycling instead of bowls (for example) then they do it on the grounds that they will have 1 satisfied customer... :D Agree a bit of a **** if you are a bowls fan, but there was probably a less than 50/50 (if football, IPL & rugby is on at the same time) that you would see any of it....
I guess the answer would be to enable another 4 slots for it, but I am not sure how that works & if (for example) that would mean losing 4 Thai (or Falang non sports) channels instead - which I guess would also hack a lot of people off.
Luckily the Rugby does have a fair bit of coverage - Super 14s, South Africa Cup Games, South African University games, Internationals (especially if SA are involved, but not only) and the 7s have all been shown live. On top of that I have seen the odd European Cup Game as well, although that tends to be more a 'highlights round up' event. So rather more coverage for Rugby Union than I would have got at home with Sky....
Watched the Lions on the Austrailian Channel if that helps....

Well, that is a tough question to answer Khun Westerby.

The problem is, as you probably well know, that Charlotte spends so much of the game on her back during scrums that it really is rather too much to ask what position she favours/plays. However, she is always right in the thick of any and all physical contact.

Is Mary Hopkins Welsh? Those were the days, my friend, when she used to play.

Oh, the colour problem. The computer does not seem to like me putting quotes in any other colour than black, and keeps moving up and down in rapid motions so that it is difficult to get a handle on finishing the job properly. Actually, it is funny to see the colour appear and disappear as the mouse tries to gain control. Thus, the odd colouring.

Thanks for the report and video of the commercial, and of the guy with the wild hair.

Indeed. It seems that poofball is the opium of the masses in Blighty.

Luckily, there are still many of us who realise that rugby is bestest.

So your a rugger man eh marmite? rather than a "poofball" fan? So why are you still so upset that those beastly Chelsea supporters used to spoil your football viewing evenings in Gullivers??? As someone who has played loose head prop as well as a life long Chelsea fan I think both games have their merits and would never be so foolish to suggest that one was better than the other.

I played loose-head too.

I used to go and watch the footy with mates in Gulliver's and of course have followed my footy team for as long as I can remember, but a large number of footy supporters are an embarrassment to the game. It's amazing that the crowds have to be segregated to prevent the animals tearing each other to pieces. One of the most enjoyable aspects of going to sports event is the banter you have with supporters of the opposite team and you still get up to go to the bar when it's your round. Even if you are in a pub enjoying a game you're still wary of something kicking off. Again, I've never once had a problem or even seen one in all the years I've played and supported rugby, something which no one (if they're honest) can say about footy.

Marmite, thanks for the surprisingly articulate and informative response. I tend to agree with alot of what you say but please desist from branding Chelsea supporters scum. I dont want to prove you right.

Well the Lions tour of South Africa is over.
South Africa (world champions) winning the 3 test series 2-1.
Lions can hold their heads high after quite a difficult series. Lost the second test with the last kick of the match, had to cope with what I would only describe as "homer" referring decisions & some play from the SA that was not within the laws of the game & well outside the spirit of it (something that Rugby usually prides itself on not having in the game).
Anyway, well done to you all & hope you have a good summer break now!!!

The chaps from the Southern Hemisphere have just got the edge on us, Bob but I love watching them play. I'm going to try and get tickets for the Southern Hemisphere games at Twickenham in November, hopefully watch England beat the Wallabies (again).

On another note, Cipriani has been dropped in favour of Johnny Wilkinson for England.

Fawny

I certainly would be watching the tri nations series about to kick off soon, Kiwis, Boks and Ozzies,

Lost the test match with the last kick of the match, ummm sounds familar, and that guy who kicked it is back, a few heavy shoves in his shoulder should see him off by 1/2 time. Johnson pulling on his old number as well ? Looks like the same selectors policy that the Poms have for cricket, always bring back the old heroes to rally the troops.

Not quite Rugby World cup warm ups so the Kiwis might do ok, they only choke on world cup years from memory.

Yes, old Johnny does have a tendency to get injured doesn't he. Maybe we'll see the Wallabies try and make a Wilkinson sandwich out of him in November.

'Johnson pulling on his old number'? Sounds perverse to me, Wazza. Shape up, you've only gone without it for a few days.

Really looking forward to the Tri Nations because I want to see the Wallabies beat the All Blacks next Saturday. Is it worth me placing another bet? :-k

Place the bet for sure and keep doubling up on it,

the Fx rates will see it worth something, GBP to Zimb $ about the same, ??

Maybe even in Lao kip and get a few reds at the border.

Yes! Go for the big one - Wallabies to win Tri Nations and I double on every bet.

Then buy an Australian bar in Udon with the winnings or resurrect Molly Malone's.

Kiwis pay double at the bar. :drunk:

First game of the Tri Nations

New Zealand 22-16 Australia

Damn and blast, I've just lost a fiver.

Edit:

Source: BBC

It was their 20th successive Test victory at Eden Park, where they have not lost since 1994, and a major confidence booster after some stuttering early-season displays against France and Italy.

They will travel to South Africa for the second match of the tournament next Saturday in good heart, while the Wallabies will reflect on an opportunity lost to end a losing streak in Auckland that now stretches to 11 matches.

http://www.news.com.au/perthnow/story/0 ... 03,00.html A good report on the game here. Fawn, I think the BBC made a mistake, Australia hasn't won at Eden Park since 1986  you might win a few bob yet :D

Aha, it says at the top of the BBC match report that the Wallabies haven't beaten the All Blacks at Eden Park since 1986, however the French beat the All Blacks at Eden Park way back in 1994. The Kiwis haven't lost there since.

Now then, am I that much of a silly four-eyed sporting Duffer to put some money on the Wallabies to win the Tri Nations outright?
