Johnty.....So I gather you don't like The Unmentionables that play at ANALFIELD, Would you be a Man Utd.fan by any chance :-"johnty. wrote:747 man, don't like them who shall not be named would rather have "the toffee's" anyday, played a bit better but can't understand why they are not the side they were last season?showed more metal and unpredictable at most times, good luck against the southern blue bas****'s. nbm47,i don't like Leeds and i never will, your supporters are a disgrace(not all 100% but 1 bad un tars the rest) every time i have been to o/t since 1968 for some brain dead reason they have always had to sing about the Munich air disaster and the last time i went to o/t leeds were still in the epl,i only went because it was the first time that i had ever had the chance to take my son to o/t(this will tell you how long ago)it was the first time that m/u ever used the top tier and what a mistake it was putting all the leeds fans up there, as soon as the teams came out all the leeds fans got their coc*s out and proceeded to urinate over the m/u fans down below(families included),i vowed from then i would never got to o/t again and i never have. The only saving grace for your team IMO is that you gifted m/u 1 of the best players we ever had.Not my intention to upset by my words only my feelings for what i have seen in the past,i for 1 hope that when we meet again it will be different but i don't think so,as for your comments on today's game 100% agreement....regards

I reckon he's a closet Stockport County Fan
Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
I support 2 teams as you well know statto,Manchester United(born only 6 miles from o/t,not many can say that today)and any f**kers that are playing the men in pink from up the East Lancs
Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
Okay Jonnty, so Leeds fans have behaved badly in the past at O/T but lets be fair Man U fans are hardly angels either. I have had my run-ins with your fans over the years, from 1963 -19999 when I lived in the UK, wasn't there when the so called fans urinated over the Man U fans, but have had the scars over the years. Always bothers me though, where were all these so called fans when Man U won nothing from 1968-1990, never got big crowds like today, that's why people think Man U fans are just there for the glory and when it comes to the bad times leave in their droves. Not like Leeds or even dare I say Man City who support them through thick and thin, nobody likes glory hunters and that's what 50% of your fans are. That's the big difference between being a "supporter" and a supporter who lives a 100 miles or more from O/T, you have to support the team where you live, through good times or bad, ask Statto (Newcastle) or others, not to say you aren't a die hard fan. Most of Man U fans wouldn't be there if they weren't successful, not like most teams. We still get 30,000 plus in league one, same as Man City did when they were down there, don't think the same would happen for Man U. Anyhow no hard feelings, its only only a game at the end of the day, even if you were born on the wrong side of the pennines. (joking) See you in the Premier soon.

Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
lets hope leeds never ever get get to the prem. they are not worthy to be there, they just think they should be as of past ventures. they are not a prem team or club, the 70s have gone. now its manure or chelsea, thats life
Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
BB,any team that gets into the premier league gets there by winning the respective leagues below or via the play offs,to say any team is"not worthy"is imo a lot of tosh, you don't get invited you merit being there and only stay in it if you are good enough, would like to agree with you but can't this time

Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
Couldn't agree more johnty, Newcastle are where they are now because we wern't good enough last year. You can make all the excuses imaginable .......... chronic injury crisis, constant bad luck, one or two players just there for the money, chairman and board not making enough funds available, manager not got the full backing of the players ............... but in the end, it 's down to one thing ...... NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
As a (now very distant) fan, I and many like me, can only hope that if they get back to the Prem, all the above are sorted before we start, or else we will be back down after one season.
I can remember (showing my age now) when Man U were in the second division, and as far as I remember they had crowds far bigger than most in the top league (even allowing for the fact that their ground capacity was far below what it is now) .
The big problem for teams like Leeds/Forest/Leicester, is that when they get promoted to the top league, they don't get that many more fans attending. If you have a "dodgy" chairman, he might well descide to save his money (not pay big transfer fees/wages), and remain in a lower league where he can make a profit.

Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
So can I Statto . From memory it was only for a very short time (1 season??). Sent down by a Dennis Law Man City goal (just sooo much irony here ). Returned managed by "The Doc" with a very young & attractive playing football squad.I can remember (showing my age now) when Man U were in the second division
I see Leeds cruised through the cup match last night.....

...... and a riot also ensued as United fans rather unsportingly tried to get on the pitch to get the match abandoned, in the desperate hope that it would mean they wouldn't be relegated. Classy.

nbm47,Ohhhhhh the lean years i remember them well.
European cup 68
fa cup 77,83,85,90
charity shield 77,83,90
not a great list but many clubs would love those lean years, attended many matches home and away when i thought what a load of cr*p but head down next week might be better, usually wasn't but still there today(long distance supporter now).......in the old days you could walk into the dog and partridge or the Trafford pub on any match day have the craick and laugh with your own, sadly those days went long ago now you have to have a membership id to get in them(if still in effect?) 1small note off topic, SPL,i work with many scots guys and they inform me that if in Glasgow Town centre on a saturday(don't know about other days) and wearing anything football related you won't even be allowed in a drinking establishment, what a differing world we live in.......regards

Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
You can blame bl**dy WEATHERSPOONS for the match day shirt ban ....... they started that one about 7 or 8 years ago ........ come to think of it you can blame them for forcing the smoking ban through as well.
Oh what the hell ...... I'll just blame them for ruining everyones enjoyment .......... a pretty high price has been paid to drink cheap "close to sell by date" beer.

mate do your research united was still the3 best supported team in england from 68 to 19990,when in the 2nd division we averaged over 55,000 a game higher than any in the 1st division,i like johnty come from 7 miles from old trafford andmy 1st game was 1965,we our glory hunters but we just accept them.nbm47 wrote:Okay Jonnty, so Leeds fans have behaved badly in the past at O/T but lets be fair Man U fans are hardly angels either. Re: PREMIER LEAGUE 2009/10
Just for the record ...... Statto is a "bloomin' Suverner" .......born an' bred in Essex.
During the years when I used to see the majority of Newcastle games, it meant being up at 6am and catching the 09:00 from Kings Cross, arriving in Newcastle at about 13:30 ........ into the Geordie Pride for a bevvy, into the bookies outside the ground for a quick wager, then back on the 18:15 arriving Kings Cross about 22:30 ..... into the pub outside the station for the end of "match of the day", then home ........ arriving about 01:00 Sun morning (thankfully in those days all games kicked off at 15:00 Sat). Away matches were a doddle compared to "home" matches.
