You're welcome fantom

some that we did not manage to save from the "slippery slope" have unfortunately even been seen watching Basketball and Baseball ..... medical research has observed that having got their neck into the "Wimbledon" mode ........look left, look right, look left, look right, look left etc; it is only a matter of time before they are drawn to basketball..... look left 2pts, look right 2pts, look left 2 pts, look right 2 pts :-"

This writer was not impressed at all by the Brazil side and 'their will win at any cost' attitude. The Spanish referee also comes in for his fair share of criticism.

Half time 1-0 to Messi's mob ... Argies v Belgies ... terrible game ... its like watching Winterton Rangers v Bottesford Town without the sleet and meat pies . The Argentinian keeper could have nipped off to Copacabana beach for half an hour and would not of made not one jot difference . Lets hope for a better second period

Shrewd goalkeeping substitution in the dying minutes of extra time by Van Gaal, as oncoming Krul saved two penalties in the shoot out. Not to say the departing keeper wouldn't have saved any. The Toon need to keep Krul at least for another season.

Argentina 1 Belgium 0.......Argentina were deserved winners of this one but the Belgians were very poor. The Swiss gave the Argies a harder game than this.Once again,Messi was the star of the show for Argentina.Higuain took his goal well but should have added another in the second half when he hit the bar with only the keeper to beat.
The Netherlands 0 Costa Rica 0 (The Netherlands win 4-3 on penalties).....A masterstroke by Dutch manager,Louis Van Gaal, bringing on Tim Krul as goalkeeping substitute near the end of extra times.Krul ultimately saved two penalties which sent the Dutch through.
The Netherlands dominated possession but lacked fluency, although Schneijder hit the post twice and Van Persie had a shot tipped onto the bar.Costa Rica were brave but there World Cup adventure is over.

So just four more matches to go in this tournament, although I think most will give the 3rd place match a miss.
The semi final line up is (Thai times)
Brazil v Germany,Wednesday morning 3am :(
Argentina v The Netherlands,Thursday morning 3am :(

On current form you would probably have to go with a Germany v Argentina final but as I only predicted one of the quarter finals correctly, what do I know ?

Once we left the group stage and England, Italy and Ghana were sent packing, my picks have been perfect. I have Germany beating Argentina in the final. That is probably the kiss of death!

Agreed Bahn_nok ..... think I'll watch the goals and dives on sky sports news Wed daytime and Thurs daytime

Certainly nothing worth getting up at 3am for [-X

Hardly a "MASTERSTROKE" by LvG Zid ..... if Krul had let in all 5 he would have said that no keeper could have saved them, so he was in a win/win situation .... sort of a Jose esque type of move really........... (Mat80's face is starting to get as red as a Man U shirt by the second)

Krul was on the TV and he said his possible substitution for a penalty shootout was discussed before the game.
Seems like pretty good pre-planning to me ? ;)
I dont think something like that would ever enter the heads of people like Hodgson,Moyes or Pardew. 8)

My fear is that this will lead to United first will lead to this being United's first signing...

As he was then...

As he is now...

& will there be a change in the rules so that as American Football bring on 'The Kicker' so Association Football will bring on 'The Penalty Saver'... :D

Its likely the Dutch have regularly been practicing penalties in training and maybe Krul's saving statistics were better than the other bloke.

First of the semi finals tonight,or should I say tomorrow morning......Brazil v Germany......horrible kick off time,3am over here in Thailand. :(
The question many expats will be asking is " do I go to bed at 10pm and try to get a few hours shut eye beforehand,or do I make a night of it and maybe not get to bed till after 5am which makes most of the next day a complete write off ?"
Still, only another 3 times of this as I'm sure only the absolute footie fanatics or those who suffer from insomnia will be watching the 3rd place match.

Some sad news to finish.....Real Madrid legend and footballing great,Alfredo Di Stefano has passed away at the age of 88 in a Madrid hospital.Di Stefano won 5 consecutive European Cups between 1956-60 with Real Madrid, scoring in each of the finals......RIP
