On the local front: last night saw round 9 of this seasons matches. Udon held on for a 1 - 1 draw in Chiang Mai, and remain in 6th place.
Meanwhile in Nongbualamphu, we saw what was a very entertaining game with Nongbua Pitchaya eventually overcoming Samut Sakhon 1 - 0 to go back to the top of the table.

Villa will now certainly be in the play offs at worst. Automatic promotion looks optimistic as they have played 2 more games than 3rd. placed Cardiff & 1 more game than current 2nd. spot Fulham.
14th. placed Leeds fans have been looking forward to next season for a couple of months now, so no change there!!

All change at the top of the Championship again. Cardiff have an easy away win while Fulham can only draw, so they swap places again. In the play off zone, Middlesbrough beat Bristol City to replace Derby who continue with their current loss of form.
Big game to win for the Iron. It moves them back into the play off zone (at the expense of yesterdays opponents) after a disappointing run.
I am not sure what the fans of Chesterfield, Barnet & Grimsby will think of the Town v Rovers result, but it was a cracking goal to win it. Rovers move up above Grimsby & 6 points above the zone. They could still go down but it would now be a shock.
Vale have all but, mathematically, saved themselves from the drop. It was a good result against a Lincoln side that have not given up on promotion hopes this season.
Macclesfield are slowly (so slowly) creeping towards automatic promotion. 3 points from their last two games is now enough. Tranmere remain the threat as while they are 10 points behind the do have 2 games in hand.

The Fulham draw means that Wolves are promoted.
It will be interesting to see how many loan players they register to play in the Premiership or if the loanees agent has done them a real favour by getting them a Premiership berth.

A little bit of a disappointment for Macc but Orient have had the best away record in the league since Xmas and are in a false position.Macc looked tired with this being their 6th game in 19 days which have involved several long away trips.
They have won 4 and drawn 2 of those so cant be too critical.It could have been worse for Macc near the end as the home keeper was rounded and beaten but Maccs left back,Dave Fitzpatrick,made a great goalline clearance.
Tranmere have still to play both Dover and Halifax away so wont be easy for them to gain maximum points there.

Wolves 2-0 Birmingham

In their last 3 games in the Championship Brum have had a man sent off when playing Wolves. So it was little surprise when it happened again. To make it worse they were already a goal down by then. In fairness the visitors improved considerably after the sending off & were unlucky not to equalise. Don't take the chances & you suffer though & Wolves scored another right at the death.
Wolves now need 1 point to be champions, Birmingham remain 2 points above the drop, but have now played a game more than Barnsley just below them...

Thanks for sharing Adhoc. I was at the home leg as a young lad and dont remember any of those tackles. Must have been the norm then! Listened to the 2nd leg on my tranny (no jokes!!) and remember feeling a bit aggrieved when McQueen got sent off. Looking now, it might have been deserved!

My story is pretty much the same as yours, Pan.
Went to the home leg as a young ish lad. Listening to the away leg on the radio. Last 20 minutes I couldn't bare to listen, it was 1 - 1, and Leeds were getting pounded but holding on. Turned the radio back on for the last few minutes, which seemed like an hour.

Remember the game, think some of lovers of todays game should take a note that it is Barcelona(Cruyff and all) in this game dishing out the boot. Wish we could turn the clock back to those days before Platini changed all the rules to suit
his beautiful game, never been the same since. More passion and excitement then than now, just too much money at stake these days. At least then you could relate to players and have a beer with them.

Apparently Dover were very disappointing and look like missing out on the play offs now.Also in danger of missing out are Wrexham who are now 8th and have been replaced in the last play off spot by Ebbsfleet 1-0 winners at Eastleigh.

Joey Barton will be the new head coach of Fleetwood Town when John Sheridan leaves the club at the end of the season.

He will take up his role on 2 June when his current ban from football ends and has signed a three-year deal.

Joey Barton has spoken of his excitement over his new role at Fleetwood, telling the club's official website: “I’m very excited by the challenge and the project at Fleetwood Town.
