Paris Olympics

Post by jackspratt » July 5, 2024, 1:29 pm

With the 33rd Olympiad nearly upon us, I see that dancing has joined the list of non-sports that will be open for gold, silver and bronze.

Given the Games will be in Brisbane in 2032, I wonder if this news story portends what could join chess and story-telling as future Olympic medal sports. :-k
Queensland holds Australia's first championship for hobby horsing

This week, dozens of riders from across the country have come to Morayfield, north of Brisbane, to take part in the first state championship for hobby horsing to be held in Australia.

Fine Cotton and Bold Personality might get a start Jack. They may have to dig up Jack 'the bagman' Herbert, Terry Lewis and Russ Hinze to jockey the hobbies. That'd be Queensland.

I recall my first job in Queensland and BD advising me, "Don't worry tam, they're not all weird."

My understanding is that the host city gets a say in adding a new sport, Paris chose break dancing. Sydney was considering ballroom dancing and tenpin bowling, but neither activity got a nod. I was pissed off that tenpin did not get a look in, having bowled the odd Turkey in my heyday.
Best being part of this forum by placing the intellectual challenged on foes list. A lot less post to read and a great time saver.
