Thanks Stan - although the reason I asked was because the guy who scored the touchdown in mak's video was wearing one.
ps I always understood the purpose of a sporran was to prevent a Scotsman's skirt from blowing up in a stiff wind, and thereby exposing his unclothed, insignificant nether regions.
