Apparently Sterling didn't vote in the Referendum; he couldn't put a cross in the box!

well , england has the same problem as the belgians , all star players but no trainer making them able to play together ,
benching the wrong people and making the wrong replacements/tactics ....belgium still got through but depending what wilmots put together for the next match ? they will lose from a team they normally can beat easy ....(wales) ...
will be the same story as what happened to england now....
so after brexit , the english really meant it, also euro championship-exit....

I was out in the Buriram boondocks but managed to watch the England game in the rubber cutters hut ... tho must admit wished i hadnt bothered ..

Heres the DM post mortem result..not in any real order..and ONLY MY OPINION ..others may not agree

All in all a very sad tournament for a young 3 lions ...

Ironically Englands best performance was the opener against Russia ,,, the last gasp equalizer soured it a bit , after that very poor the only bright spot was Sturridges late winner over Wales .
Woy fooked up with several decisions ..
Keeping faith with an out of sorts Sterling and Kane who looked knackered before a ball was kicked .
Making too many changes for the Slovakia game meaning England finished in the wrong half of the draw , tho if you cant beat Iceland theres no hope really .
Two players should not play again for the national side ,,Rooney time to retire from inter footy and Joe "limp wrist ' Hart ,, who was total crap for the Bale and Iceland goals ..
Iceland deserved winners , great TEAM EFFORT N SPIRIT , tho their keeper didnt have to make a single serious save in the second half ...very sad
Woy should Go . last night some of his facial expressions and fumblings in the dug out were very strange ... NEEDS REPLACING WITH A YOUNGER MORE PROGRESSIVE COACH ...English or not BUT I CANT THINK OF ANY ONE AT THE MOMENT ....CAN ANY UM MEMBERS EVEN THROW A NAME IN THE HAT ??????????

So whats gonna happen in Euro 2016 now ... my predictions
Quarters
Portugal beat Poland ,,Ronaldo free kick the games only highlight .
Belgium beta Wales in a close run game
France Beat Iceland (WOULD LOVE TO BE WRONG AND ICELAND WIN THE WHOLE TOURNAMENT)
Germany v Italy very tight but the Italians to win by a whisker .

Semis
France Beat Italy and Portugal beat Belgium

Final
Portugal beat France with Khun Ronaldo stealing the show and lifting the trophy .. YEP PORTUGAL TO WIN THE TOURNAMENT
Claret n Blue all way thru .. Up the Iron
L2 Season 19/20 Codheads 0 Scunny 1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2qrsItFUug
8 minutes is the point of lift off !!!!!!!

The buck always stops with the coach and yes Woy has made errors in his selection and tactics but lets not forget these pricks on the pitch get paid a fortune to go out and give it all for their side and they failed. Lets also remember that they have all probably played football from a very young school age and have likely played in different positions throughout, so they shouldn't be totally alien to them (I played GK, Right back, Centre Back, Midfield and Right Wing in my hey day) and they should be able to adapt when required. DM - my name for the hat - PELLEGRINI and Germany to win Euro 2016. (Well I hope so as my lad's got 50 quid on them at 5.5 to one).
Here's tae us, wha's like us, damn few, and they're a' deid. Mair's the pity!

Pellegrini would be an excellent choice, socksy,as would Laurent Blanc who recently left Paris St. Germain but would they be interested in the England job ?
Quite a few English names being bandied about.....Shearer,Hoddle,Allardyce,Pardew etc.....but none of those inspire me that our long wait for a trophy would end soon.
On paper England have quite a young, talented side and you have to feel that a progressive, younger coach like Conte or Low would have got a lot more out of them than Roy Hodgson.
Also,if England had shown the same spirit as the likes of Iceland,Wales and the two Irelands we would be looking forward to a quarter final tie now.England didn't seem to have a Plan A,never mind a Plan B,and just seemed to muddle along.
It was embarrassing and cringeable to watch these overpaid "stars" perform against Iceland.....Rooney on 300k GBP a week,he wasn't worth 300 baht on that performance ! =;

Poland 1 Portugal 1 (Portugal win 5-3 on penalties)

Poland got off to a dream start with a goal by Lewandowski after 2 minutes but once Portugal equalized on the half hour we were "treated" to another dour spectacle at the Euros.
Portugal are in the semi finals but have still to win a game over 90 minutes in this tournament ! [-(
Lets hope either Wales or Belgium stuff them in the semis.....they kick off at 2am Saturday morning Thai time.

Oh yee of little faith, Zid. [-X Go Wales! You've done it once, so why not again? \:D/
Interesting trivia regarding Poland & Iceland. In my amateurish manner, I thoroughly researched both commercial & social media, including several Forums, and nowhere could I find anyone tipping either Poland OR Iceland to reach the knockout stage, let alone BOTH to do so. No one, that is, except our very own:

Wales 3 (Williams 30,Robson-Kanu 55,Vokes 85) Belgium 1 (Nainggolan 13)

A magnificent performance by Wales ! =D> =D> =D> A fully deserved victory. They must really fancy their chances of making the final now, with them playing dreary Portugal, although they will be missing the influential Ramsey and also Davies through suspension.
This was a team victory for the Welsh with some of the unheralded stars playing a major role like Robson-Kanu (who is without a club) and Ashley Williams playing with a shoulder injury.

This from the BBC.....

"Wales reached the semi-finals of a major tournament for the first time after a stirring fightback to beat Belgium in the European Championship quarter-final in Lille.
Radja Nainggolan put Belgium ahead with a thunderous 25-yard strike but Wales captain Ashley Williams headed in from a corner to equalise in a breathless first half littered with chances at both ends.
Welsh celebrations reached stratospheric levels when Hal Robson-Kanu, a striker without a club, gave them the lead with a divine turn and finish.
After withstanding late Belgium pressure, Wales sealed victory through a header from substitute Sam Vokes that set up a semi-final against Portugal and a mouth-watering duel between Real Madrid team-mates Gareth Bale and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Wales manager Chris Coleman had described the last-eight tie as Wales' biggest match since their 1958 World Cup quarter-final defeat by Brazil, their only previous appearance in the knockout stages of a major tournament.
His players rose to the occasion wonderfully, recovering from a difficult start to claim what must rank as the greatest win in Welsh football history."

Tonight its Germany v Italy, kicking off 2am Thai Sunday morning.Germany must be favourites but if Italy play like they did against Belgium and Spain, where they played to their strengths and outsmarted their opponents,we might see a shock particularily if Italy score first.

The "Proudly Welsh" were magnificent in victory. A revelation once again, and who must be favourite for 'Player of the Tournament', was Aaron Ramsey. That he would overshadow Gareth Bale, and become the personification of the pride in their country, the passion and the total commitment, driving this team to success, nobody could have foretold; not even Statto!
An appeal against Ramsey's yellow card, for handball, should be immediate and successful, since replays of the incident proved no part of either his hand or arm came anywhere near the ball. But, of course, I take into account only the laws of football, not any political 'laws' which may come into play, and which so frequently do, in France.
In tonight's match, ignoring the World rankings, and considering only the performances of the two teams to date, I don't consider either France or Iceland as the favourite, in playing terms. But I do hope & pray, (albeit without much conviction :( ), that home team, and referee, partialities, will play no part in the result. [-o<
Please keep the fairytale going Iceland. Everyone, except the respective opponents of you and Wales, are enjoying every minute, and are grateful to you both, for lighting up what clearly would otherwise have been a boring and disappointing tournament. :D =D>

Just to clarify......
Tonights match is Germany v Italy,kick off 2am Sunday morning Thai =;

France v Iceland is on Sunday night, kick off Monday morning 2am.

We wouldn't want some people getting up early tomorrow morning at 2am to watch Iceland and be disappointed would we ? ;)

Well I knew that all the time didn't I! :fryingpan:
About TONIGHT's game. Zid wrote:... if Italy play like they did against..... Spain, where they played to their strengths and outsmarted their opponents.." :-s
I didn't perceive any special footballing strengths, or particularly smart footballing tactics from the Italians in that game. :? It is true however that, the Italians players were constantly trying to tear off the shirts of the Spanish players during, rather than waiting until after, the game, and asking for their shirts nicely, (strength??); also that the Italian players took turns writhing in agony as they impersonated the 'dying swan, in an effort to fool the referee , and distract the Spanish players (outsmarting??). It must be to these acts of gamesmanship to which you refer, with such admiration! [-X
Unfortunately, for Spain, machines don't get distracted by such pathetic human histrionics, so this is one matchup which I feel confident will not provide any shocks, and that Germany will dispatch Italy from the tournament with it's trademark Teutonic efficiency. For a brief period however, the Italians will doubtless take courage and hope from looking at my forecasting success rate, in this tournament.
