Trying to work that one out .Do you not expect to be happy for very long or not a Spurs supporter very long . The latter of course could account for the temporary nature of the former. :-"

Pool ensure that the top of the table is not totally dominated by London.
Both strikers scoring is certainly a reassuring sign for them - who knows what will happen to Suarez over the season.. :D
No joy for Sunderland as they try life without an Italian boss. Looks like it will be a very long & hard season for them again.

Stoke continue their strange up & down season as they try & emerge from being the dourest of opponents. Style is OK but points are individual for all but a very few Premiership sides..

Tonight sees a North West against North East replay.
Can Everton span the dizzy heights along with their neighbours??

A clean sheet and couple of goals for Lukaku would certainly give my fantasy team a much needed boost.

Can I suggest that Liverpool fans might like to bring calculators to next weekend’s game v Palace?
I won’t go into an analysis of the games so far, but Palace have had a couple of debatable decisions go against them. But in truth they have been at times awful, poor errors being punished and not even able to offer one shot on goal. Nobody thought it was going to be easy, particularly with the limited time to prepare, a large number of new players and the expectation was we’d lose plenty, but I had hoped it wouldn’t be an embarrassment either.
A guy on the fans’ website, who goes back even longer than me, following the dismal showing against a very able Swansea side, was trying to remember the last time Palace had been so completely outplayed. He mentioned the 0-9 thrashing at Anfield back in the 1989-90 season, a game I was at too. (I have to say Palace beat Liverpool later in the season 4-3 in an FA Cup Semi-final).
So this Saturday beckons and you’ll understand I don’t feel very optimistic. Of course, I can at last ‘enjoy’ seeing my team in the Premiership live. Perhaps I need to get in some cider to dull my senses?

I see on the telly Brendan Rodgers is saying his strike force of Sturridge and Suarez are the real deal ... and diya know i reckon if they stay injury free he could be spot on ,,, perfect partnership ,,who knows Liverpool might just be up there come the end of the season .

Everton 3-2 Newcastle
The home side were 3 nil up at half time, so a bit of a fightback by the visitors in the second half? Or job done by the hosts?? As the second goal took until the last minute to come Newcastle were never likely to gain anything from the game after the first half.
At least Liverpool seems to be giving London a run for their money this season. However I think both the Pool sides are a bit lacking in depth of squad & they will need extreme luck to keep the best on the pitch all season, but enjoy it while it lasts.. :D

Newcastle are a bit in danger of drifting towards the problem area. Nothing like the crisis at neighbours Sunderland but a few points are needed quickly & they are away at Cardiff at the weekend..

747mans elation at Everton storming into the top 4 will be tempered by the McVities biscuits promotion at Tesco's now ended ! :(
But looking good for the Toffees,up to now,and playing good football which is a trademark of Martinez's teams.

Brian,
I think you are being a little harsh on your beloved Palace. They have struggled, maybe more than expected, but they seem to have 9 players out injured.....dont spose they have a huge squad to start with ?
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

If you’d seen them against Swansea ……..!
There is a large number of new players, none of whom have exactly wow’d me to date and whilst it can take years to build a team, Holloway has had weeks. The Chairman is on record saying that all the transfer business might have been handled better. I think we can say there are players the Club wanted, but missed out. Was it a case of getting who you can, before the deadline? Holloway has admitted that one new signing has turned out nothing like he hoped! He wasn’t included in the 25 man Premiership squad, which suggests Palace weren’t quite ‘on the ball’.
The Palace hardcore fans have been great with non-stop backing during games, but whilst we can accept losing, we do expect to compete reasonably well.
Yes, they have a few injuries. Most notably Glenn Murray, injured towards the end of last season, but who at one point was competing with Messi as leading scorer in Europe – I joke not. But he had gone ‘off the boil’ before his injury. Back around Christmas? Club captain and mainstay centre back Paddy McCarthy has had a very long term injury – may be fit soon. Yannick Bolasie, who played second fiddle to Zaha, should be back soon, but not sure he’s in favour with Holloway, as he was with Freedman. Personally, I was sad to see Welsh international Johnny Williams injured yet again. A livewire midfielder, who has been very unlucky with injuries. A real prospect, I believe. Christmas? Whether any of these players, if selected, would make a difference, I don’t know.
Oh, there's Zaha too (voted best player in Championship?), but at least the Club got good money for one of our Youth products.

An interesting interview with Sir Alex.
A good insight in to the man not just in football but his other interests and approach to life.

It's still early in the season, but could Uniteds trip to Sunderland be viewed as a potential 6 pointer.
