That's an excellent and interesting post 747man. It seems to have rattled a few cages.

Speaking of rattling cages (or not). Harry Maguire is guilty but got a suspended.

That was bloody quick. Faster than 747man celebrating a good Everton win.

The Greeks don't muck around. I gather the biffo with the Greek police was fairly minor. In the link:
One policeman alleged that while at the police station, Maguire said: "Do you know who I am? I am the captain of Manchester United. I am very rich. I can give you money. I can pay you. Please let us go."

His colleague added that Maguire had said to him: "Please, let me go. I am very rich. I can pay. I am the leader of Manchester United."

The defence argued that this request may have been lost in translation and suggested Maguire may have been asking to pay a "fine" to be released.

You could actually change out the word first for oldest, time the matchbox was replaced with a modern stadium fit for today's public, Next we will hear from Everton management that due to covid 19 a new stadium is not required.

Everton to make design changes to new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock
Everton will submit the changes to Liverpool City Council next month

Everton are to submit design changes to the West Stand at the club's proposed new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock

Everton are making changes to the design of the club's proposed new stadium.

The Blues are to formally submit the alterations next month and Liverpool City Council are expected to decide on them in December.

And should planning permission be granted then Everton hope to begin work on the Bramley-Moore Dock site in early 2021.

The multi-storey car park being removed and a stepped plaza added

The West Quay will now become the car park with spaces for disabled supporters - as proposed in the second stage public consultation.

Solar panels originally on West Quay now moved to the stadium roof.

The brick façade has been simplified to make Archibald Leitch lattice work patterns more obvious in the brickwork.

There will be a slight reduction in the stadium roof to meet Liverpool City Council’s guidance on World Heritage Site requirements.

The club do not anticipate that the changes will create any additional cost to the project which had been estimated to come with a £500m bill.

Everton have confirmed that they are not required to submit a new planning application in full but, instead, the Council have asked only for the amendments.

I read this morning we might have another year of two of Maguire trying to clear his damaged reputation before the Greeks courts. I wonder with his current convictions if he'll struggle to travel to some countries. Even airlines need to think twice about accepting passengers with a conviction for resisting arrest.

^ Strip him of the captain's arm band and one year's salary and loan him to Scunthorpe.

But don't sell him... yet.

If had offered the Greek cops one year's salary he might have avoided all this kerfuffle.

His appeal was successful so until the new court date is arranged he is innocent until proven guilty

That is exactly what both he (and his brother) did, and why his charge sheet included "attempted bribery"

I suspect his offer was too low statts. He might have only offered them each what a Manc cabbie might earn in a fortnight.
