Just quoted saying it was down to 'illness'...no mention of a return to next game.

And anyone with Fabregas...? he on a 1 match ban (5 yellows) back 29th. ;)

And Gerrard looking doubtful for next game.

Ferdinand got a back injury..doubtful too :fryingpan:

Don't believe a word about Ferdinand and Rooney being injured. Fergies a crafty old fox. He pulled them out so that they don't have to play for England on Wednesday.
Benitez on the other hand is a bit of an idiot. He plays Gerrard for 90 minutes and then says he's injured and wonders why Copello wants Gerrard to report to the England camp.
Call me an old cynic but I'm 99% sure all 3 will play next Saturday.

Have been reading the papers ahead of this weekends games and there's a possibility of 5 of my players not playing this week. Could be the same as last weekend when I only had 10 fit players. :(

And now Berbatov has a groin injury, Warnock suspended, Taylor still injured, Gerrard and Carew out?, Owen still not fit enough to start? I think I'll just write this week off and go to the pub instead.
This fantasy league is harder than the real thing, at least Fergie/Big Phil have a 23+ squad to choose from not 2 GK and 13 outfielders ](*,)

Last chance this week for my bunch of under performers. But then again, maybe it's the managers fault. :yikes:

Have a complete new team picked and waiting for a wildcard entry.

Can I change managers?

OK, that's it, manager and chairman have had a 'one to one' behind closed doors.
I've given me my vote of confidence, and made the 0.5m available for transfers.

Manager (me), has thanked the chairman/owner (me) for his understanding, and appreciation that the job has not been easy with so many injuries/suspensions to deal with, and that the refs are all 'one sided' against my players.

I've got all my scouts and back-up team into the office this morning, and we have identified several positions that need to be strengthened and several over priced, over paid primadonnas that need to be shown the door.
I've been on the phone to Dennis (Wise), who couldn't attend due to death threats from the fans (who keep telling me i'll have to pay 200k if I really want rid of the little ****).

The following players (?) have appointments today to collect their P45 from HR :-

Messrs Robinson, Woodgate, Warnock, Gerrard, Jenas, Davis, Carew and Berbatov :fryingpan:

And the Overpriced nancy primadonnas who are to replace them are:-

[-X :-$ :-# You will have to wait until 11:30GMT to have a look

Oh, and I almost forgot ...... I've still got 200k in the bank .......bye bye Dennis :yikes: :censored:

Like Statto myself and the chairman also had a one to one this morning after our recent slump in form. It didn't go that well and I have not heard language like that from anyone for a long, long time. :D
I reminded him of our conversation at the start of the season. My promise to him was only that I would keep the team up this season. I think that was what really set him off as he started to hurl abuse about their being no ****ing relegation in this league. My retort was that a promise was a promise & I stood by it.
We then got into a long discussion about what is going wrong & a very dicey discussion about what I was going to do about it. I explained to him that our good start to the season was just dumb luck and it was his fault that he got completely carried away by it all & wanted to put some detailed thought into it rather than relying on what was working - luck. My way forward for the season was to return to what was working, luck. This set off another tirade about my work ethic compared to other managers in the league. I patiently explained to him that he knew my work ethic was always commensurate with the salary received. This is where he really blew his top - I don't think another manager had ever used the "c" word to him & he was confused about what I meant.
Anyway the discussion ended with me telling him he could stick the job where the sun doesn't shine which made him back off & agree to let me have until Christmas to sort it out.
Oh well roll on kick off so I can go down the pub & watch the best team in the league play like they are on Methadone while I sink a few beers.
Ah, football, don't you just love it... :D :D

Saw a guy sat at the bar in Irish Clock this morning talking to himself. He was engaged in an intense debate, from the sound of it, and even slapped himself in the side of the head a time or two. Er, that wasn't you by any chance, was it, Bob? :-k

Use your wild card more wisely than I did, guys. I used mine to transfer two players. Might have come in handy later in the season when the injuries mount. Hard to imagine 5 out of a squad of 15 down at the same time.

Lastly, thanks to farang for being in the league. :D

No it wasn't PH, but later on tonight it might be :D :D :D
If your having "forward flashes" any chance of tonight's UK lotto numbers??? (p.s. if I win I won't be investing my millions in my FF side, though, looking at the banks & stock market it is an even money bet :D )

At least I can now tell the chairman that it will get better, just give the new players about 25 weeks to settle in, and they will be playing like champions on the last day of the season (when their contracts expire!!) :drunk:
