United on top of the league for the first time this season albeit, maybe, only temporarily.
The Liverpool v Everton game on Monday night looks even more tasty now !
Aston Villa still going well....three points clear of Arsenal and,I think, only a point behind Chelsea.Makes the 4th Championship League spot interesting.
Newcastle's mini revival under Joe Kinnear has certainly come to a halt now as,I suppose, has Spurs under Harry Redknapp.
With West Brom convincingly beating Middlesborough it makes the struggle at the bottom of the table even more tight......Gareth Southgate feeling the heat now after 10 games without a win.
Bad news about Joe Cole.I've always rated him although maybe more effective for England than Chelsea......he wasnt one of Irish Alans acquisitions for the Fantasy League by any chance ? :D

Gianfranco Zola has left Craig Bellamy out of his 18 man squad for todays game :-k

Could be on his way to Spurs me-thinks, and that would "free up" Darren Bent to move to Everton with David Bentley.

I know it's slightly "off topic" like wrong league, but after 33 mins in Atalanta the score is :-

ATALANTA 3 - 0 INTER :yikes:

Maybe not such a bad bet. WH won 3-1 & Konchesky got a booking as well as the goal.

I have not been out this weekend so have been resigned to watch whatever football cable put on. Which ended up being SPL. Rangers yesterday. Ended up winning 2-1 against Falkirk. Commentator said it was (I think) 68 SEASONS since Falkirk had won there. They went 1-0 up. Were unlucky, just after half time had a man sent off. Hung on until not long before the end, but then conceded twice... Today Celtic away to Aberdeen. Current score 4-2 to Aberdeen, although to say that the score flatters them is an understatement. AT least has made the end of the SPL a little more interesting. I wonder what Mr. Strachan will say after the match - another gem I hope!!!
This is one of his best...
Strachan was on Sky on Sunday morning. He saw John Terry's goal and said he was impressed that Terry goes up expecting to score. He contrasted this to Claus Lundekvam the Saints central defender who goes up for every dead ball and never ever looks remotely like scoring. He said if there was a dead body lying in the penalty area the ball would hit it on the head several times a season which he said is more than Lundekvam can manage. He said referees should book Lundekvam for timewasting every time he goes up for a corner. When the co-commentator said if Lundekvam was watching Strachan was only joking. Strachan assured him he was deadly serious.

West Ham 3 Fulham 1. Hammers the better side by a long way.

Spurs 1 Portsmouth 1. A good game to watch for the neuterals.

Well I can never remember a Premiership still so open in mid January.
The top is still very much 'up for grabs' but the bottom is even more open.
Who is for the drop???? Well no one is yet certain of that, in previous seasons someone was usually in the land of miracles to avoid the drop, this year????? Well here is the bottom half of the table &, as far as I can see it goes all the way up to the 7th. or 8th. currently in the table :yikes:
3 wins or losses & it can go from delight to gloom or the other way around!!!!

Bob
Good result for the Hammers yesterday. Some people are asking that Carlton Cole should play for England. Ok he has improved slightly but an England player I don't think so

Yeah Bob.

can't ever remember a season where it was so tight at the bottom for so long.
Over 5 months into the season and theoretically 2 wins could see the team on the bottom jump into the top half of the table

Good for the neutrals and possibly the fans of the top 5 (OK 6 then 747  ) but if it goes on much longer the fingernails are going to get a bit short ........... not to mention the toe nails (might as well have a chew before extracting foot from gob occationally).

What was it they said about Forest a few years back "They are too good to go down" ...... no they wern't, and nor are any of the teams in the bottom 15 8-[ 8-[ 8-[ 8-[

Just to try & justify my position on the "bottom"..here is the table as at 13th. Jan 2008.
Quite a large difference to the current position I think you will all agree.

Ohhh Yeah...i like a tight Bottom, Carlton Cole ... he is having a good spell at the moment but would need to keep it up for a long time (Oo Errrr Mrs), Fulham...boo hoo was banking on them winning or keeping a clean sheet (FF team) but their run had to come to an end...hoping Bullard gets back to form soon, The Pool and Everton Tonight....would like a 0-0 (FF team again) OR a big win for the Pool Gerrard doing his stuff with a bonus thrown in and a 0 for Everton (FF Carragher in team..lol) sorry 747...but FF comes first.... :-"
