Watched Stoke v Man City. Determined Stoke, but the Man City fans, for all their possession, must be totally frustrated at the team’s inability to ‘work’ the Stoke keeper.
Delap just seemed to lose it for a moment and had to go. The rules may say Wright-Phillips should go for kicking back, but I have some sympathy in that he’d already been chopped down unceremoniously and then had size 12’s flying at his ribcage. You’d have to be a really cool character not to react.
Now my lot played 87 minutes against 10 men (keeper off) and still managed to lose 0-1. Actually being present at that kind of game I don't miss! :D

I dont really think Everton can complain about the result.United werent at their best but did enough to win against a side with no attacking options.Besides Everton have a more important game coming up in the FA Cup this week.
Great win for the stokiez......so close at the bottom of the table.Half the teams are involved.Look at Portsmouth dropping like a stone and Spurs revival under Harry well and truly over.
Liverpool v Chelsea tonight.I watched the corresponding match at Stamford Bridge a month or two back and thought Liverpool were comfortable in victory and it was the start of Chelseas inconsistent run.
Wouldnt like to predict the result tonight, though its true that defeat would be a big blow to either sides title aspirations.Gerrard and Torres the key to Liverpool achieving anything this season.

Geordie,I think your posts are spot on !......if youll pardon the pun. :D

Zidane, Not complaining over the result,Correct we had NO Attacking options,Maybe that was because weve got NO Fit Attacking Players ( ALL 4 Injured ) But I still say WE SHOULD have been awarded a Penalty SHOT ????? When Lescott got dragged to the ground by Wes Brown........

Liverpool 2 Chelsea 0.
L/pool the better side in a good match to watch. I did not agree with Rileys decision to send off Lampard.

Scolari Hopes RED Card will be over turned.

-----------------------------------
Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari hopes Frank Lampard's red card in the 2-0 defeat at Liverpool will be overturned.

The England midfielder was dismissed for a foul on Xabi Alonso, three years after the Spaniard suffered a broken ankle in a similar incident at Anfield.

But Scolari conceded Jose Bosingwa could be in trouble with the FA after a bizarre incident near the end when he put his foot into the back of Yossi Benayoun and pushed the Liverpool man off the pitch.

The incident was not punished by referee Mike Riley and the FA are certain to review video evidence if Riley acknowledges he missed the offence.

Now Scolari wants to see video evidence used to clear Lampard as well.

He said: "Liverpool had more possession overall, but once Frank Lampard was sent off they had more chances and got into our box much more.

"I do not want to criticise the referee, all I ask is that he looks at the video with the men from the FA. If they agree that Lampard did not commit a foul for his red card, maybe they will change the decision.

"What Bosingwa did was not correct, he made a mistake. But if he is punished when the FA look at the video, maybe they will change the decision over Lampard.

"When he was sent off it changed the game for us one million per cent. We lost the middle and did not have the ball.

"They created more chances and had more possession. And they were able to score the goals after that decision.

"I have not spoken to the referee, it was his decision. I hope though that he will look at the TV and see that he should change the decision."

With or without Lampard, Chelsea were rubbish. A draw was the best they could hope for and even then they didn't deserve that.
I think Chelsea have been "found out' by the Prem teams and are no longer the threat they were early in the season when Scolari's initial influence on team and tactics had a dramatic effect. Now it's all so predictable, there doesn't seem to be a Plan B, when Plan A has failed miserably.
I think Lampard might get away with his red card, but Bosingwa is in deep do do. I also thought Gerrard was lucky to stay on the pitch. I thought his pre-meditated kicking the ball at Boswinga could have been a yellow card. Delap was sent off for a similar but more violent foul this weekend against Man City, so Gerrard was lucky not to be booked, then later on when he cheated with one of his famous dives it should have been his second yellow. All irrelevant now, maybe next season. [-o<

FRANK CLEARED
Posted on: Tue 03 Feb 2009

The Football Association has announced that Frank Lampard's claim for wrongful dismissal following his sending-off on Sunday has been successful.

An FA statement reads:

At an independent Regulatory Commission hearing today, a claim for wrongful dismissal from Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard was upheld.

As a result, Lampard's three-match suspension has been withdrawn.

Lampard was shown a red card for serious foul play during Sunday's Premier League match against Liverpool.
