Just getting my breath back. Barnsley put through their own goal in Extra Time to give "The Toffees" a 5-3 victory having been held to 3-3 at Full Time. Seems pretty Grass Roots to me!

Airdrieonians 0 Rangers 5 (Clark 5′ Halliday 14′ Waghorn 15′ Shiels 84′ Tavernier 88). Effectively all over after 15 minutes.

It took an own goal by Stranraer to see Hibs win at home to proceed 1-0 into the next round.

Tavernier, Rangers right back looks to be the bargain of the season signed from Wigan. League Cup draw for the next round is today so being unseeded we look forward to a game against a SPL side. Last nights goals.

I just watched the highlights Goodison, and you will be relieved to have come through that one. Very exciting highlights with some well taken goals from both sides. =D>

Difficult ties for all the non SPL teams. Morton and Rangers may have the best chances of progressing.

Colchester 2-2 Scunthorpe
Kidderminster 0-2 Forest Green
Macclesfield 1-2 Chester
Torquay 0-3 Cheltenham
Hednesford Town 0-3 FC United of Manchester
Obviously a day to be playing away from home..
The Iron went into an early 2 nil lead, but the hosts had pulled one back by half time & sneaked an equaliser in near the end.
Forest Green left it latish to keep their 100% win record, but they did & remain 3 points clear at the top.
Cheltenham breezed into 6th. spot with a comprehensive away win. That despite being reduced to 10 men after only 10 minutes. :D
Nice away victory sees FC United of Manchester move up to mid table. This should be a season of consolidation for them, the aim is to improve & push for promotion next season...

I see you didnt mention Macclesfield,Bob......1-0 up after 90 minutes then contrive to lose 2-1. :(
Down to 21st now....looks like a grim season ahead.....from the Conference North to League 1 and back in 30 years ?
But a few local derbies in there.....Stockport County,FC United,Stalybridge Celtic,Curzon Ashton......trying to look on the bright side ! 8-[

Just tought I'd add a mention for my team's first win of the season yesterday. Leeds United 2 - 1 at Derby.
I came across this pic and was wondering if the honourable member for Scunthorpe would care to explain why nobody wants to go there?

Up the Iron

Queen of the South 1 Rangers 5.

Match Stats

Possession Queen of the South 33% Rangers 67%

Shots 7 15

On target 3 7

Corners 2 5

Fouls 21 7

Such a one-side affair yesterday which wasn't helped when a 'Doonhamers' player was maybe a little harshly sent off.

Yesterday was a Bank Holiday in England(two weeks rain in 1 day,so whats new) but apart from Coventry and Southend drawing 2-2 there were no Football League matches......a sign of the times ? :(
However, there was a full programme of Conference matches whose results include.....

Cheltenham 2 Wrexham 1 ; Forest Green 2 Bromley 1 ; Grimsby 0 Macclesfield 2 ; Tranmere 2 Kidderminster 2
and in the Conference North,FC United of Manchester 3 Curzon Ashton 3

So Forest Green maintain there 100% record at the top,Cheltenham in the play off places and Macclesfield shock Grimsby in front of a crowd of 4,251.

CONFERENCE TOP 6 Played Points

1.Forest Green 7 21
2.Eastleigh 7 17
3.Woking 7 16
4.Gateshead 7 16
5.Cheltenham 7 15
6.Wrexham 7 15

These have got to be some of the most serious ever charges against villains involved in Football. Hardly surprising the Club went to Rat ----.

Good to see that a huge crowd of Rangers fans, numbering nearly 20 :-s ,turned up to see these rogues make a court appearance.
I know many on Udon Map are hoping that socksy doesnt carry out his threat to leave the forum as that would leave me to post on the Scottish football ! :(
We are already struggling with a high class fellow like Bob Helm, who has World Cup and UEFA Champions League experience, having to report about the Conference this season :D

Rangers manager Mark Warburton happy to avoid 'awful scenario'
By Richard Wilson BBC Scotland

Rangers manager Mark Warburton said that he was not tempted to seek any additional signings on the final day of the transfer window.
He has recruited 11 players since taking over in the summer, although 16 left at the end of last season.
Warburton is happy with the size of his squad, saying any more would create an "awful scenario".
"The worst thing you can do is take numbers for numbers' sake and add bodies just in case," he said.
Warburton added: "That's an awful scenario: to have four, five, six players not being involved with the first team on a Friday. All that creates is upset, resentment, so we have a tight, lean squad.
"Yes, we're vulnerable to a spate of injuries, but we work hard, the medical team, etc, and if we have a problem we dip into the academy squad.
"Craig [Mulholland, the academy director] and his team are doing an excellent job, the likes of Tom Walsh, Fraser Aird, Barrie McKay, Ryan Hardie, will do a job for us.
"If we'd needed more players, we'd have got more players. There's no lack of support for what we needed.
"There are some really good people here, players and staff, and if we have an injury I have no problem with playing Ryan Hardie, Tom Walsh, Fraser Aird. They've had a great academy education and they're ready to do a job."
Rangers are one of only two clubs, along with Aberdeen, to still boast a 100% record in domestic football this season.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.
