Thank goodness for Scunthorpe and Macclesfield who continue to enjoy success in their respective leagues.
A bit of a day to forget for the rest.

Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Special mention for Whitehawk in Nat Lge Sth ...... 2017 record Played 23 Won 0 Drawn 4 lost 19

2018 record Played 1 Won 1 Drawn 0 Lost 0

Not sure why they should suddenly win 4 - 1 AWAY from home, but a real New Years pressie for their travelling fans

Perhaps the Eastbourne manager rested his squad due to the excessive number of games targeting a fixture they were more likely to win after visiting the Mark Hughes school of failed management techniques

Due to the Grade A festive programme, everyone is now looking at Scunny players ;)

ADELAKUN IS HOT PROPERTY

Scunthorpe face a battle to keep hold of highly rated winger Hakeeb Adelakun who is attracting interest from a host of clubs.

Adelakun is out of contract at the end of the season and Scunthorpe have offered the 21-year-old a new deal to fend off interest from Championship clubs Sunderland, Hull and Barnsley.

Crystal Palace are also thought to be monitoring Adelakun’s contract situation as he can leave for compensation at the end of the season if he doesn’t sign a new deal.

Has he finally found his managerial level in India?

If this doesn't work out he will have to head to the Thai Premier/MLS/"A" League/ or Scunthorpe :yikes:

Colchester United 1 Cheltenham Town 4
Forest Green Rovers 1 Port Vale 0
Macclesfield Town 0 Solihull Moors 0
Colchester were in charge & in the lead until just before half time when they had winger Kyel Reid sent off for an act of petulance. Town then scored regularly in the second half to gain a much needed victory.

A surprisingly poor outing by Vale who have been on a good run of form. Rovers did enough to get them out of the zone with their first win in 5 though..

Timid showing by the Silkmen as well against a previously struggling Solihull Moors. They still have a 4 point lead at the top but their main rivals stole 2 points on them yesterday..

VAR to be used in Carabao Cup final and Chelsea v Arsenal semi-final
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42598446
Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology will be used in both legs of the Carabao Cup semi-final between Chelsea and Arsenal.

It will also be used in the final next month but not in the semi between Manchester City and Bristol City.

Monday's FA Cup third-round tie between Brighton and Crystal Palace will be the first time the technology is used in a competitive club match in England.

The International Football Association Board agreed a two-year trial in 2016.

VAR can be used in four "match-changing" situations - goals, penalty/no penalty decisions, straight red cards and cases of mistaken identity by the referee.
Oh dear, just who will Arsène rant at if the Gunners lose?? :D

Easy answer to that .... the ref of course, for going to VAR when Arsne thought he shouldn't. and for not checking for the blatant foul he missed 3 minutes before the build up to the goal  As is ALREADY being proved FAR FAR more trouble than it's worth.

Aitor Karanka: Nottingham Forest appoint ex-Middlesbrough boss as new manager
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/42613064

Not surprised he is back in business. Certainly a manager who believes in a strong defence & it will be interesting to see how Forest go under him..
Hull away in the FA Cup should be a good test as to how things might pan out..

Perhaps, Bob, he should get some pointers, in advance, off your hero, The Mouth, the acknowledged High Priest of excuses for managerial deficiencies! :-" :-"  \:D/ \:D/

It would be interesting if mat80 ever met up with felixcat.I wonder how the conversation would go ?

Anyway, back to the real world ;)

A big money move from Scunthorpe to Fleetwood.I don't know how this will affect Scunnys promotion chances ? Don't think Paddy has been a regular starter this season ?? :-k

Striker Paddy Madden has joined Fleetwood Town from League One rivals Scunthorpe United on a two-and-a-half-year contract.
Fleetwood have not revealed the exact transfer fee but say they have paid a "six-figure sum" for the 27-year-old.
Madden has scored 113 goals in a career which has also seen him play for Carlisle and Yeovil.
The striker scored in the 2013 play-off final to help Yeovil beat Brentford and secure promotion to the Championship.
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

Sorry Zid, the relevancy of your post eludes me, so I will merely repeat the smilie YOU attached!
However, I admit that felixcat is one of those members whose threads and/or posts I never bother to read, since I concluded long ago, they hold not the slightest of interest for me. I would be even less interested in conversing with him; so now you can stop wondering. =; :-$

Manchester City 2 Bristol City 1
Yeovil Town 2 Forest Green Rovers 0
FC Halifax Town 1 Macclesfield Town 0
Little to cheer regular viewers last night.. :(
A last gasp winner by Aguero took the edge off another fine performance by Bristol. It will be a real uphill task for them to win through now, as Citi carry on being almost impossible to beat this season.
Rovers were never in the game to make it a contest. Down after 3 minutes, they were 2 down by half time.
The Silkmen had thrashed Halifax in the league on New Year's Day but couldn't get the better of them in the Cup, despite being the dominant side..

Clever as usual Statts, =D> but methinks your post needs some editing Statts, thus:
"Felix THINKS God brought Jesus in to be the front man for Christianity; Mat doesn't think about him at all, whereas Zid, Bob, the FA and The Mouth himself, all believe that The Mouth is Jesus, in disguise, and therefore can do no wrong".  :-s :-s \:D/ \:D/

Think we should now finish discussing Zid's uncharacteristic off topic troll, and return to the topic of football by throwing a few more compliments & congratulations the way of Bristol City, who have , arguably, replaced Burnley as the season's surprise team. There is also the small matter of the Chelsea v Arsenal first leg semi tonight, which is expected to start at 3am, and finish at 4.45am; or maybe 5am; or maybe 5.15am; or maybe etc. etc. etc.  ;) ;) \:D/ \:D/ So, while Arsenal are unlikely to surprise, both managers will be hoping the match finishes in time for the players to snatch a few hours rest before the weekend's games.  \:D/ \:D/
