Feeding the myth of a great footballing nation done wrong, here's the opening eight words of an article in the Telegraph that is ostensibly about the Dutch referee that will be officiating at the final.

"With hopes of ending 55 years of hurt, ..."

It goes on to suggest that in England's previous games under the watch of this ref, they have had 'better luck'.

Stroll on.

oh dear so much bitterness coming out towards the English 3 Lions .. so a soft penalty is whats making many so nasty whilst conveniently forgetting all the piss take decisions that have gone against the team in the past ...

The more offensive / best team won which is great ..Denmark were disappointing for sections of the game and couldnt even get the ball at all... and IMO the best two teams in the tournament will contest the final , hoping for an England win but it wouldnt force me to kick the dog or loose sleep if they didnt .

BTW Tam n Co .. get over it

I'm not sure who England is playing, but I hope the other mob win. Disappointed Englishmen are great fun. The English, post game, are world champions at turning against their own team. 8)

No matter how well England does against Italy, history will record that England could not defeat brave Scotland and were fortunate to come up with an Everton-style 0-0 draw.

Ay the Jocks love a bit of history .....its what they cling tay as havent won buggar all for years .. i suppose to them a 0-0 is like a victory ..so why so much bitterness surely wouldnt it be better to say they held the tournament WINNERS to a draw then the runners up when grandfathers telling the generations to come how great a ""victory"" it was and how it got Bolly Gilmor a star move to Norwich

Very rare Qualifying for Euro 2020 tales can now be enhanced to the 0-0 draw against England .. new born babies will be named Nil Nil ... and streets re named like Gilmor Lane and Marshall Way ..oh hang on that one would have to be out in the countryside

Athletic supporters at Everton will say that everything is alright, we saw another 0-0 result. Has Scunthorpe ever played Everton. If so, I am sure the Iron beat the snot out of them.

Im not seeing any LUCK in the England win .. just that the as the Statts show ... the better side that had the more goal scoring chances and way more time on the ball WON and that history .

BTW it seems the experienced "" pundits experts "" are split Yes/No on the Sterling penalty ..but all agree decisions even out and it made up for the Kane nailed on pen earlier in the game.

Im surprised your so bitter Tam .. camorn see uzz Jammy

You lot are the ones prefacing EVERYTHING with 50 years of failed expectations. You are so far up yourselves, that's what's causing the butthurt. The Scots have never been anywhere near those giddy heights but they don't cry about deserving more because of famous draw or being cheated out of even getting close again. We know our level in world footie. England just can't accept that theirs has always been a tad inflated.

Anyway good LUCK to Sir Gareth and all the other wannabe gong collectors.

PS: Looking at the Denmark game, your goalie is beginning to show the signs of premature ejaculation that you alluded to before the group games kicked off. Hope he doesn't make a sticky mess in the final.

The Fat Lady was Kate Smith. She sang 'God Bless America'' prior to Philadelphia Flyer hockey games.

OR

Who is the fat lady that sings?
valkyrie Brünnhilde
The imagery of Wagner's opera cycle Der Ring des Nibelungen and its last part, Götterdämmerung, is typically used in depictions accompanying uses of the phrase. The "fat lady" is thus the valkyrie Brünnhilde, who was traditionally presented as a very buxom lady.

Agree Tam ..Pickford hasnt really dropped a serious clanger yet .. lets hope hes not saving it up for the final eh ?? Knighthood for Southgate n Kane will be a dead cert .. plus maybe all others which in my opinion is a load of bollocks for kicking a football around and being well paid to do it..

Crack a grin threw those gnashing teeth Tam .. you know you can

Forget about the semi. Luck or lack of it has been a historical constant in England's footie toe-stubbing since 1966.

How can you rate a team "better" when they had more scoring chances but struggled to actually score? Being unable to put it n the net says more for the opposition or the 'losing' team.

Or are you preparing yourself for the 2 - 0 defeat to Italy which, after the red eyes and swelling has abated, will be translated as an 4 - 6 win for England based on their 'scoring chances'?

Sheesh...

PS: I've told you before, I'm not a bitter person, I'm a McEwans export man.

2 goals to the Danes, and 1 to the Dutch, would suggest that England were very lucky.

Not to worry. There's another cloggie ref and two cloggie linesmen on duty for the final. Expect (more) soft penalties, (even more) diving and a few extra balls.
