Love Tims comments in the press conference ......

"If it was up to me I'd give me a 10 year contract"

He then refferred to Levy as "Daniel"

Then saying ......"Footballs not like that anymore, it's all about results, if you don't win you get the sack"

which I thought a bit risky, coming from a guy who currently has a 0% win record

Also the comments from Jose & Wenger on Ashley Cole being at the Arsenal Xmas Party

Jose said he was going to keep his thoughts to himself, and that he was not his dad, and Wenger said about everyone having details of the good restuarants when he could have said that he phoned Ashley and asked him to come for tea and xmas lunch and talk football :-k

In an hours time Malkay MacKay will lead his team at Anfield knowing that his boss is up in the stands behind him and looking down wanting him to quit or be sacked.
A bizarre scenario even by eccentric foreign football chairman's standards.

I have a rspect for the Scousers and their attitude to the game, therefore it would not surprise me in the least if they lead the anti Tam protests.

A goal blitz just before half time saw off Cardiff. Pity in a way as they had held their own in the first half.
They actually won the second half, but Pool were in cruise control & saving effort for another day.

The other results pretty much as expected. Sunderland creep ever nearer safety but they will run out of games before they actually get there at this rate.. :D

Just shows what a couple of wins can do......Stoke 4th from bottom a week or two back are now up to 10th and United 7th just 8 points behind leaders Liverpool.....if Fergie was still in charge it would be easily catchable and we would be looking forward to yet another title win ! :-"

After watching the 2 games last night from Anfield and OT 3 things stood out.
The 1st 2 being cheating, not other word for it.
In the 1st game almost every time Cardiff had a set piece near the box the actions of Skirtlel were disgusting. He never watches the ball but instead does all he can to block his opponent with shirt pulling holding etc. There could easily have been 2 penalties for Cardiff. It needs to be stamped out.

Secondly with Januzaj. No doubt a quality player and one for the future but Moyes needs to talk to him. His simulation when Collins wasn't even close to touching him was embarrassing, well played the ref for booking him.

Thirdly the form of Saurez. The man is just oozing quality this season and the thought of United playing Real Madrid in the latter stages of the CL is frightening. Him and Ronaldo, what a combination.

Good win for United, as with Liverpool all the work done in the 1st half, Buttner needs a for playing so deep to allow West Hams goal to stand.
Another great goal for Young with his 1st touch after coming on as sub, did sod all after that, should add a few quid on to his transfer value.

It is a pet gripe of mine as well Macca.

So simple to stop completely as well.
If the defender is doing it..penalty & yellow card.
If the attacker is doing it - free kick & yellow card.
If they are both doing it, retake corner & two yellow cards.

It would cease completely after the first corner.

The commentator was saying he used to cover La Liga and a few years back they had a BIG clean up of the problem.
The season started with a mad flurry of penalties, disallowed goals and bookings.
After a month the problem was solved.

I don't believe for a second the ref didn't see the fouls by Skirtel yesterday, he is just one of many, but he chose to ignore it as a penalty might be deemed controversial.

I agree. This shirt pulling and grabbing hold of opponents from free kicks or corners is ridiculous. [-(

Stop your fretting, old chap.Suarez signed a new four and a half year deal with Liverpool on Friday earning him 160k per week till the end of this season and 200k per week from the start of next season,so there is no chance of United coming up against him and Ronaldo, together,in the foreseeable future ! ;)
Unless of course.....Ronaldo signs for Liverpool next season  but then there is still the remote chance that United wont qualify for next seasons competition ! 8-[

When he scored his 2nd, great goal, he waved to his wife in the stand and she waved back with passport in hand.
Contracts mean nothing other than adding value in transfer market. I hope he doesn't go it's nice to have quality in the EPL even with the scousers, but I still fancy Real to have a go.

Nani recently signed a new 5 year contract.
Now don't spoil my Christmas by telling me all the talk of Juve or Inter signing him is not true.

Spot on Bob. For me the warmth & sincerity of the pre-match embrace between Rogers & Mackay, coupled with the spontaneous applause of everyone, (except Tan & his mate   ), was a moment to savour. I also thought the Cardiff players did their Manager proud. Since no potential manager of any quality, being of right mind, is likely to take the job, presumably a family member will be given his brief moment of glory, pending Cardiffs relegation :( , earning the gratitude of one of the other EPL teams, currently facing that fate :D .

Zid wrote ..if Fergie was still in charge it would be easily catchable and we would be looking forward to yet another title win !
Unlike you Zid, to allow yourself to state as fact what is merely the combination of an emotionally based opinion, and an unattainable dream. Also you conveniently ignore the facts that Ferguson was far to old to play :-" :D \:D/ , and that the player inspiring the current resurgence, Rooney, would no longer be with the club, which I think was a contributng factor in the timing of the wily old Fergusons' decision to retire.
Time to move out of the past and look to the future; appreciate the clubs luck in obtaining the services of the excellent David Moyes; accept the fact that he has been employed to exercise his own unique management skills, not to attempt to replicate Fergusons, and give him your total support in his difficult task of rebuilding the jaded squad he inherited, and adding further lustre to the Clubs history. Lecture, from this frustrated Spurs supporter over :D  , while adding, (don't I always  ) the Spurs fans, like a few other EPL clubs, would jump at the chance to have Moyes as their manager.
Finally, I am in total agreement with Bob (:-s , what's going on  ), regarding Skirtel. He has been getting away with his 'penalty area wrestling' for years, not just this season, although it HAS become more blatant of late. That the referee did not award a penalty when Skirtel wrestled for at least 5/6 seconds with an opponent, finally forcing him to the ground, with the referee standing not ten yards away and directly facing the incident, could only be interpreted as home team bias. Wonder how pleased Rodgers would have been with Skirtel, had the score ended as 3-3, as would have been the case, had the referee done his job.
The match commentors were entirely correct in stating this farcical 'Skirtel' type bahaviour in the penalty area is now endemic but is being almost totally ignored by all referees. They also went on to suggest the only way it could be stopped would be for the Referees Association insisting on a proper enforcement of the rules. Obviously this would result, initially, in a glut of penalties, and quite possibly end a few careers, but would quickly eradicate this problem. Cynic that I am, I think it more likely the FA will alter the rules allowing this behaviour to continue. :-" :-s

Adebayor the saviour is not something you see too often a season.. :D but he scored 2 in a see saw game that Spurs will be delighted to have won. Southampton probably have the best of their season behind them, but they can play some nice stuff.

Everton won out in the battle of another couple of sides that can do some nice stuff. Under Moyes they always tended to start poorly but were often the best team in the league after the New Year. If they can reproduce that sort of form then this will be a very good year for them indeed. So far this season Martinez has turned a pretty functional team into one that is well worth watching..

Tonight The battle of the capital continues...
Arsenal V Chelsea 20:00
The Not so Special One undoubtedly knows how to win this game, but has he got the players to do it.
Can Arsenal flair win through?? They were cut apart by a Citi side who are as attacking as they are, Chelsea will be far more cautious..

With the fact that the other 6 sides in the top 8 (at the start of the weekend) ALL WON, so one (or possibly both) of these sides are going to lose ground on EVERYONE :-k

Wenger has never beaten Mourinho in 9 attempts, drawing just 4......I think it will be the same tonight with the match ending 2-2,with John Terry being sent off and Torres slotting home an equaliser in the 5th minute of injury time after coming on as a sub with 10 minutes to go ! ;)

Yes,a swap deal Ross Barkley for Nani would be excellent ...... =;

,with John Terry being sent off

Got a sneakin' feeling Zid he wont be the only one :-k

He may well be joined in the "early bath" by a couple of "gooners".

Not sure what was said/done at the Arsenal Xmas Party, but I shall be watching for a very early yellow card (that is the sign isn't it [-X )

Now where's that Singapore phone number, I suppose they have had to change that now with all the publicity  :-"
