Jonas Gutierrez & Ryan Taylor released by Newcastle following the expiry of their contracts.

The former posted on his twitter account Two things I learn from my illness how you can support a player (newcastle fans) and how you leave a player alone (newcastle owner)" - namely the fat f***er

Brendan Rodgers will survive as Liverpool manager - but only if he accepts the transfer policy implemented by the club's owners. Daily Mirror

I presume that means him not spending millions on more crap underachievers.

Last season is less than a fortnight old but the clamour to find out next season's list of opponents is already growing - and supporters will not have long to wait

The Premier League fixtures for the 2015-16 season will be announced on Wednesday June 17.

The new season is set to begin on Saturday August 8 - the earliest start date in 15 years due to the European Championship in the summer of 2016.

Do you have to be deranged to be in charge at Newcastle? This coming after Carver stated he was the best coach in the Premiership. [-X

Steve McClaren has set his sights on winning cups at Newcastle and finishing in the top eight of the Premier League after being confirmed as their new manager.

“I am privileged to be appointed head coach of Newcastle United,” McClaren told the club’s website. “This is a big club with a wonderful heritage.

“St. James’ Park is like a cathedral (or recently like a morgue more like) on a Saturday afternoon, a symbol for the city and I am excited to be given this opportunity. I know how important Newcastle United is to the city and the region.

True never thought of that after his FC Twente interviews. Hopefully McClaren can have a clear-out of some of the overrated 'Frogs' (and more).

McClaren a desperate choice by Newcastle.
The Reds have turned down a 25 million bid for Sterling by Man City.

Watch Falcao become the Premierships leading goalscorer next season, now ! 8-[

Radamel Falcao: Chelsea on verge of loan deal for Monaco striker
By Dan Roan
BBC sports editor
Chelsea are on the verge of agreeing a season-long loan deal for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao.
The 29-year-old, currently with Colombia at the Copa America in Chile, scored four goals in 29 appearances for Manchester United last season.
United rejected the chance to sign him for a reported £43.2m but now the Premier League champions have moved in.
Details of an agreement that would secure Falcao a second season in the top flight are still being finalised.
On Thursday, Mourinho responded to reports linking Chelsea with a move for Falcao by saying: "It hurts me that people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at Manchester United."
Speaking to DirecTV Sports, the Portuguese added: "If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it."
Just when I thought our chance had passed, you go and save the best for last.

I don't know how I'd sleep at night with the worry. Having had a 12 week playing ban in my career along with shorter one's, a week is a walk in the park.
