Not everybody has the time shop mornings. They make enough money!
How much for a couple more cashiers? probably 400 baht a day each !
They should look after customers ALL DAY!
Re: makro
We've been shopping at Makro in Udon for 23 years. The first few years were a not pleasant......poor veggie/fruit/meat choices, few cashiers, long lines.
In the past 5 or more years, though, we've rarely had to wait for more than a customer or two to checkout. We're almost always there between 11 and 1 on most any day of the week/month. Parking can be iffy on busy days, but even then, the cashiers seem to be manned adequately.
Makro's our go-to place........haven't been to Big C in ages and Lotus hardly.
Maybe the op just hit a bad time (staff meeting or training?)

Re: makro
Was in Makro this morning, at checkout at 8.30 a.m. Sometimes this early the less than 10 items lanes are not manned. still only took 3 minutes to get to front of queue. Not sure how many checkouts were manned, about 3 or 4, I think. Makro is not really intended for the quick exit - it is for people doing large shops. The under 10 items queues open when it is more busy.
Like Parrot, our go to place for 90% of our non fresh vegetable shopping. We also run a shop, so often bulk buying there.

Just look at 'em splashing all that money around! That lady's got a case of Coke and an industrial sized tub of Thousand Island dressing. The keys to her new Buggatti Veyron are in the brand new pink Hermes Chaine'd Ancre Bag.

Re: makro
Old Makro is a mess. Store under renovation. Supposedly this is country wide. To be completed by mid December. I believe there will be a sale in late December. They are getting rid of their Makro products and going with their corporate products. They are owned by The Charoen Pokphand Group Company. Same company that has 7-11, Lotus.
Re: makro
actually the new layout has more aisle space outside of the shelving stacks. My problem with it is once again they've moved everything all around so I can't find things.. I'll need to do a non-shopping visit to wander about..

Same as Global House, DoHome and Thai Watsadu recently did. The big makeover.

Re: makro
I've never seen any Makro branding on their products. Do you mean the ARO branding that's on a lot of their bulk-buy, food and catering lines?

Re: makro
Big sale in late December. I imagine they will get rid of the stock they will no longer carry. Since Makro was originally a Dutch company they will probably rename with a CP name. I imagine most of the western imported items will be replaced by CP products. Gone are the days when Udon had Carrefour, Tesco and Makro.
Re: makro
From this earlier in the year, it seems the push is on for more products from ARO manufacturing, with the ARO branding that they inherited with the store purchase. The ARO brand probably has high recognition for bulk buyers of food and catering products, so they'll keep it and augment it with "ARO Gold" for higher-end or imported stuff.mak wrote: ↑October 30, 2024, 10:04 amBig sale in late December. Re: makro
If they chose to rebrand, like Tesco Lotus, they may go for a catchy, more memorable name that retains something of the original name so as not to confuse the great unwashed.
