Temu

Post by tamada » December 12, 2024, 3:06 pm

I am quite happy with maybe 8 or 9 lazada purchases each year. Good results and the very few times I was not happy, it was because I had either misread the description through being too quick to click or the seller wasn't being honest. No issues with the few returns or refunds either.

Temu with its "Shop like a billionaire" tag line has been spreading across the planet like a contagion. I recall there are some concerns in the UK about the import tax loopholes they may be using. A member I know personally says it was cheap, fast, and they got what they ordered. However, there's enough stories of either not getting what was ordered or being of really poor quality, so I haven't been tempted.

I saw this on LinkedIn, so just wondering if any more forum members would like to share their Temu experience. The comment on the picture is from the LinkedIn post.

Did you comparison shop or did you purchase items that weren't available on existing platforms?

The latter Tam.
Temu seem to have a far better range of clothing in Falang sizes than other platforms.

I had excellent service from Temu only a few weeks ago when I got a big discount on a furniture item.

The only thing was I had to put the kybosh on endless promotional e-mails received soon after first registering and making that intial purchase with them. Things were soon OK thereafter though.

In late November my friend ordered one pair of boots from Temu.
Four days later the parcel was delivered by JT. Free delivery.
Good packaging and item as shown on the website.
Quality looks pretty good. Unbeatable price.
Total satisfaction.
--------
I followed by ordering one item ( 250 Thb ) on December 12 with an advertised delivery date of
between December 18 and 23.
On December 14, I got an email indicating that the item had been handed over to JT for delivery.
December 17 email confirming that the package had been released by the customs dept.
December 18 email saying that the package has arrived in Udon.
Package delivered at 2:20 pm. Looking great. Happy.
Will use it later this year.

OK, I have bitten the bullet and signed up. I will do a price comparison with Lazada first, with the same choice/items. Then I will see if there's anything Temu has that I haven't been able to find on Lazada.

The first surf around their app indicates that like Lazada, once it sees what you are looking for, more choices of the same or similar items begin to appear so best to hold off on any snap purchase. Unlike the Lazada app, it appears to flag most items as "last one" or "almost gone" and pushing you to make the snap purchase.

Just ordered some items I had trouble finding on Lazada easily. Pricing was competitive for sure but this might be associated with first time purchase discounts. I even bought another item I had been thinking about to make up the 180 baht minimum. I like that they also allow PayPal payment which adds one more layer of security to my MasterCard details and is associated to a different email address too.

One strange thing though, my account was made successfully without me confirming my newly registered email address. I got the order confirmation email but have yet to click the email confirmation button. Seems a little odd. Perhaps I will not get spam? Or not get the items 555

Let's see how this goes. I'll report back once the items arrive.

Items arrived yesterday without drama. 5 days start to finish. Perfectly adequate.

Only one lesson learned was the shirt sizes had a choice between Asian and Regular sizing. I chose regular but will likely go up one size if I order again from the vendor.
