So when you read the article the excise adjustment is at the wholesaler/ retail level. So where is the actual collection point?
Papafarang has already pointed out 2 rises in a week. The breweries are already advising that some will hold back pre-excise change stock to gain an advantage over the consumer. We will ot be talking 5 or 10 boxes of Leo here.
It will be just another money making scam till it all confusion is eliminated. But it is some sellers interests to allow the confusion to proceed forever and the double dipping to continue.
The system should have been expained to the public prior to implementation so rip offs could not occur.

5 bht a bottle does not affect me but those on a rice paddy wage ( 300 bht or less)will be hit hardest. Every thing has gone up lately including fresh farm produce at wholesale markets.

well it was nice to see that makro yesterday had a big stock of dark lao beer still at the same price as before 928 baht,
i also wanted to buy some chang or archa ( forgive me, i am not a big fan of piss beers like leo and heineken , san miguel enc..)but no stock at all of those.....

stopped at 7/11 tonight and they were out of the 2 for B92 packs of Leo, but still had single bottles at B48 (who said all the double pack cartons were in the waste paper bin outside)

Also noticed the 4x 330ml can packs were B124 .......... I'm not 100% sure, but were they not B92 a couple of weeks ago

That word hoarding springs to mind but if you do not mind swapping your favourite tipple to Cheers,then loads of boxes there $\:D/$

Having recently joined forces with a couple of booze importers i was invited down to Bangers yesterday and sat in on a meeting ref the new tax increases ,, the top people from Hieniken , Chang , Singha etc were al in attendance .

Suffice to say all were .are not happy about the recent tax PROPOSALS ...

i HIGHLIGHTED the word proposals as at the moment new tariffs have not been set and or passd thru the correct legal procedures hence the lobbying of government ministers by the big boys and importers ... the implications are massive both on tourism and jobs for Thais here within the booze business ....

BTW ,,, NO prices increases should have been enforced any where in Thailand YET ,,, so it a supplier is telling you the price went up already i would be wary ... as i said the new tariffs have not been finalised so how can a suplier know the increase ,, also expect another increase when the tax increase is agreed .

Yes of course Jack ,,

Both local (Thai) beer producers and importers were in attendance , any one within the alcohol industry in Thailand was able to attend if they wanted to however big or small the company , i repeat what was said no price increases should have filtered down to the final supplier / customer YET ... as the new tariff(s) have not been agreed and finalized.

Expect a few empty shelves in the supermarkets etc until its sorted one way of the other .

Well as part of their proposals include REDUCING the import tax on luxury goods which would include my cologne and the wife's perfume, saving me if the rumour is correct, over 300bht each, I am not too worried about a few baht on my OSHE. $\:D/$

I will not know until tomorrow if my favourite tipples in LOS have gone up in price,happy hour times help keep the price down and consumption up $\:D/$

Going to have a look at old Tesco tomorrow to see their stock levels and prices,not been to ngeesoon for sometime but they were always a good bet for stock.

The good new for us Dungites is that Eddie has made a decision to absorb the latest (impending) price rise, and Leo yai will remain at 100 baht.

Makes me happy.
