Went in Centara Mall today to the first floor to buy software found what I wanted but the price quoted from the EMO looking kid, was a joke. He wanted 1250 baht!!!! I kid you not.
I made my excuses and left.

You never mentioned what kind of software you were looking for. Legal copies of software will certainly be more expensive then the illegal ones.

I have to agree with the other posters. I bought copies of software as recent as January and paid only 100 bht per disk. Shop around next time and you will find the better prices.

You may be misreading my post. I simply asked what kind of software Prender was seeking and noted that legal software would be more expensive than illegal software. I personally do not use nor advocate buying/using illegal software.

There are different versions of legal software, basically there are two options.
1. The legal software you buy seperately. Only the CD with program and serial number, with support and updates. The expensive version.
2. You buy a computer with a package of pre-installed software, then it's basically multi-user software sold in packages for a lower price.
What they often do in shops in Thailand is sell the cheaper multi-user software (which is supposed to be sold in package deals only) seperately, so without the package deal. This way, sometimes you can see legal software in a shop in Thailand for a lower price than you would pay in a computer shop in a western country.
