Iดm going to stay at City lodge. Is there someone who have experience of them?

Hi Benny,
I spent a week or so at the City Lodge last October... and would recommend it.
We had to change room because the aircon packed up, but otherwise found it a very friendly place, and very good English breakfast too. (for Thai food, elsewhere is better and cheaper).

As long as it is in your budget.
Compared to some of the other smaller places it is slightly more expensive. But if you hate big hotels but still want to be very close to the city then it is very good. The staff are excellent with English spoken by all of the front line thai staff. Rooms are very good especially the 900 Baht rooms. Room 8 is the best being the only one with a balcony.

Only negative comment I have is the stairs up to the top rooms have been built for thai size feet. Can be a hazard when one is a bit p!ssed.

I also found the stairs a little daunting. I think the food is very good, especially Andy's baked goods and pastries. His bread and butter pudding is some of the best I've ever had. Almost as good as sex.

Hi,
Sent them an email few days ago and no response. Asked them what the current rate was for one of the rear rooms which look really nice on their website, and on what floor they were on as from on the reviews here it was stated the stairs are not easy to navigate and hey, I'm an old man, and if they are quest friendly or not. Quess my inquiry must have turned them off but it was made in good faith. Anyone know what's going on with management there, they should have at least given me the courtesy of a reply. Thanks, have a great day and enjoy. Old Bud

Thanks Farang, I did get on the Irishclock website and their place looks very nice, just thought maybe the City lodge would be a little more quiet as I'm not a young buck and need my sleep. Thanks again and have a great day. Old Bud

Give it a week Bud... as I recall, had the same thing booking last year (I think it was being advertised for sale on FBI website at the time), sent 2 emails over the course of 7 or 8 days before I got a reply, confirming my reservation.

I think it must be a Thai Hotel e-mail thing...
I waited 5 days for a confirmation from the Charoensri Grand, when it arrived it was for the wrong date.. I never got a reply to the next e-mail asking them to reconfirm for the correct date....but it was all OK when I got there, which is, obviously, the main thing! :D

I stayed at City Lodge and Irish Clock a few weeks back.

Both have their good and bad points in IMHO.

City Lodge is a little tired now. Needs updating and have been told by owner of Lodge that this is to be done soon. Large rooms, good food and nice staff. Breakfast just a little better than Irish Clock. Quieter position than Irish Clock.

Irish Clock have nice modern rooms. Good quality furniture and fixtures. Good choice of TV channels. Nice atmosphere in bar area. Tom, the manager is a really nice bloke. Safety deposit boxes.
Only minus points, minimal hot water for shower, rooms at front of Hotel can be a bit noisey. Ask for a room at rear if possible.

Gary
