Firstly, can someone tell me what dates the Dragon Boat races are taking place in Bueng Kan this September?
Secondly, can someone recommend a good hotel. A web search does not bring up too many --- Sumran Hotel is one, what's it like?
Thank you.

Re: Bueng Kan Hotels and Dragon Boat Schedule
bit more info for Sai Ngoen Resort above, w/pic
http://www.hotelsguidethailand.com/home ... &code=6270
mapping software didn't help much, 2 more hotels, but no info found anywhere about them.
Bueng sawan resort, this one just south of town
Saman mit hotel, this one over by district office.
also couldn't find anything about Dragon boat racing in the area. have watched the boat racing before, once in sakon nakhom, on lake, good day out, especially if betting on the races with partner, making it a bit more interestin. also caught them at nakhon phanom, which were just ok, bit unorganized, on mekong. searched and can't find nothing about it in bueng kan, which is a very small town, maybe 10, 000 people, so not sure if held there. that is suppose to be a decent spot for naga fire ball watching, less popular than phon phi sai area.
on any of these festival, you have to know what and where, as info is sketchy, as i went to nong khai once for naga fireballs, only to realize i wasn't close to where they could be seen, 50 kms a way and a 4 hr drive, if lucky, couple 100 thousand people that year, the year ITV did their no to complimentary documentary on the naga's and tourism. boycott ITV signs everywhere and on road up to nong khai. of course the naga gods were made, as a big very short windy storm blew in, just before the nagas started with a very dismal display, less than a dozen, as reported by news. so i didn't miss much. saw the lighted boat procession on mekong in nong khai, just ok.
link for festivals in thailand, obviously not all, but the majors. buffalo racing in chon buri was entertaining, again, little wager makes it interesting. that's in oct.

Re: Bueng Kan Hotels and Dragon Boat Schedule
Thanks for the input. Still not having much luck with dates after hours of searching. -------
Off topic:-
Did find an old inquiry I made in 2005, re the same topic, on Nongkhaimap.com though. I met Sean in NK thru the week and he told me about the site but I had no idea they were so closely related. Almost as if I have been signed up without doing so?
