Accommodation over New Years period

Hi Everyone - My first post
I am planning to be in UT for a few days over New Year and thought I would like to treat myself accommodation wise. I know places rise and fall in quality and service all the time so can anyone with their finger on the pulse advise on where is a nice place to stay at the moment. I have looked at the web sites of Ban Chiang Hotel and Centara Hotel & Convention Centre, both look good but is either one better at the moment or is there another choice? I would like to be reasonably close to town. Thank you in advance.
