NB Hotel Discontinues Internet

Post by AznBigG » July 30, 2006, 6:49 pm

Update ... I have been advised by the staff of NB Hotel that the owner has decided to discontinue offering hi-speed internet connection in their rooms. This was apparent when my internet went down 8 days ago and never was brought back up. :?

So .. strike NB Hotel off your list of hotels offering hi-speed internet connection. :(

This straight up stuff. The Panthawee operator sold $3000 in worthless stock to my neighbor, who happens to be one of the nicest falang couples I have ever met in or out of Thailand. They have taken legal action. They stayed there for months 2 1/2 years ago while looking for a permanent place .They made the mistake of believing that they were friends.I don't know about the internet in the rooms.I tried their lobby computers 2 years ago and they were really slow.It is my wish that they get as little business referrals as possible, though I would not lie to cause it.

Stayed one night at Pantawee hotel last July on the way to Laos, cost 500THB for mid grade room.

The room did have internet, but all kinds of malware on it, wouldn't enter any sensitive data.

Looked at their website, price for same room now 3x last years price. Won't be stopping there again, 1500 is too pricey for that area.

Wow, didn't think my original post would cause all of these interesting side conversations.

Anyways, here is the internet update at Chaoeronsri Grand. They still have the PC in the lobby that you can use for 40 baht an hour (no partial hours). The good news is that TOT has turned the lobby area (and some rooms if you are lucky) into a wireless hotspot zone. You can buy pre-paid TOT access cards at the lobby (cant remember the specific prices).

That's all for now.

Stayed at Napolai hotel there in Udon couple of months ago, nice enough room, free wireless internet and breakfast buffet for 800 baht a night. Internet was obviously ASDL as speed was good, read a review on their site where someone complained there where virus's on system however my laptop detected nothing.

I'm glad the Napalai has gotten wireless in the rooms. This must be just recent. When I was there couple of years ago, it was dial up  #-o

This is my choice of hotels, though not near the complex. Service was outstanding. :)

Latest news on Internet in-room? I know Irish Clock has Wi-Fi that works in some rooms. my traveling partner prefers an elevator. Any ideas?

Napalai Hotel has wifi included in the room.

Irish Clock wifi is included in the room.

Ban Chiang Hotel has wifi, but you pay extra. It isn't cheap, and you can only buy time cards for the times that they have, which may not fit your length of stay.

B&B Resort has wifi and direct line hookups in the room, but the last time I was there, the Internet connection was not reliable.

Mingus,

Not sure when u are coming to Udon, but within a couple of weeks I hope to have wireless ADSL up and running, no lifts but rooms on ground level and straight onto the pool.

If a couple of weeks works with your plans check out my website.

KTC condotel has direct ethernet line hookups in the room. (room =400/day)
The same applies to Udon Resort where room are priced at THB 320/day,although here you can either rent the cable at 20baht from the reception, or bring your own.
