It`s one of the best hotels in Udon. There are often different meetings in Udon, so some of the hotels are full at those times. A couple of weeks ago most hotels were fully booked for a few days due to some meetings.
I would book in advance...

and the wealthy Lao come down each weekend and patronize some of the nicer places making it sometimes difficult to get a walk-in...

This place is very expensive in my opinion and even charge extra for internet!! What a rip off!! I would not expect to stay anywhere in Udon without prior booking, as most are very busy nearly all the time.

Hi,
My friend, over here on holiday, stayed there for two days. He got a walk in price, for two people, for B and B of 2,000B per night. Whish i coud get this price for the same type of hotel back home. It would cost me more than double that price.
I should think you would get it cheaper if you booked on the internet,
The room and the hotel is very nice.

There are cheaper places and a lot better the rooms are small in this hotel. Charoen Hotel is quite good just round corner from bus station. For a good deal try Top Mansion 450 baht a night you can take breakfast in the sister hotel nearby, and wi fi is free and works.

Well, at 2000 baht he was robbed - less than 1500 baht if he had booked (with breakfast). Depends on what people consider acceptable, but a basic room can be had for 500 baht a night - and by basic i still mean something which has about the same facilities as a western motel.

If on a holiday and want all the comforts of a hotel Centara has it all. If you are on a budget then one of the places like Top Mansion or Ruysuk will suit your needs. If you don't mind a little noise.

Have stayed at the centra on a previous visit and now staying this week for 3 nights at the UM sponsor Paradise Hotel. 1150 but/night with wifi breakfast and welcome drink. Friendly staff, Good pool, expat TV channels. Everything you need for just a good room to crash at night. Walking distance to all the bars etc.

Centara Hotel- NO WINDOWS!

Post by milkman » December 19, 2013, 12:23 am

I got the least expensive room advertised on their website. Not a bad price- but they don't tell you THE ROOM HAS NO WINDOWS!!! It was like staying in a cave!!! Very romantic, my wife was calling me "keenyow" (cheap) the whole night! Best location in town, but really not so pleasant.

Come on now trubrit, it would make it pretty hard to shave in the morning if the mirror was on the ceiling.

Over the last few years there has been a vast improvement in good quality places to stay at reasonable prices to suit all pockets , availability not a problem most times of the year but holidays and as previously mentioned seminars n meetings etc can result in many NO VACANY signs around town .

Places to consider as well as the Centara .. Pannerai , At Home , Paradise , One Residence ,UD Residence , Prajaktra all in town and reasonably newly built or renovated ... numerous others just outside town on the ring road .

And there's a new 6 story (or so) Boutique Hotel on the right of Udondutsudi Rd as you head out of town, near the Christian School. Don't know if it's opened yet....but looks like a nice place.
