I booked tickets for my wife (thai) and myself to Thailand for the 7th December with a return to UK on 5th January. Price was only ฃ439 each with Qatar (5 star) from Manchester.
We are staying in Bangkok for 4 nights then flying to Udon on 12th Dec with Nok Air, going straight to her parents home in Sakhon Nakhon for 4 nights then coming back to Udon on 16th for 3 nights.
Where would recommend we stay ? I quite fancy the look of http://www.udonthaihouse.com
Have any of you guys stayed there ?
I will need 2 rooms because ive told my wife her mum and dad can come and stay there with us.
On the 19th we are flying back to Bangkok with Air Asia and ive not made any more plans yet, might have a few days in Pattaya.

Sounds like you got a great deal on the flight with Qatar considering the time of year. They use decent modern planes as well :)

I stayed in the udon thai house back in May, lovely place, very nice rooms, good food and drink, peaceful area, only downside is that it's a few km's out of town, but Thomas does offer a free taxi service should you need a lift into town. I wouldn't hesitate about staying there again.

A few of the guys are raving about the Irish Clock for a good nights sleep at the moment, and it's bang in the centre of town, so only a few yards from whatever you may be looking for during your stay. 850 baht per night including brekkie, sounds like a decent enough place.

Have a great trip.

I think ill get the wife to give udon thai house a call today.

( BangkokButcher ) I booked my flight last Monday with www.thg.co.uk tickets arrived 4 days later. I heard they are able to do the good prices because there selling them as package holidays, a voucher for 1 night in a Pattaya hotel arrived with my tickets, I wont be using it though.
