Forgive me if this is incorrect (I do not read Thai  ).
Try this..

If that does not work then just get on the English language Highway Code & convert the pages to Thai - FoxLingo or Google will do that for you - but I think the result is not 100%....

Hi,
I'm a driving instructor and I'm back in the UK working for 3 month. The answer to your question is No!
I’ve contacted the DSA regard to this on a couple of occasions, firstly about 12 years ago for my wife and again last year for some Thai customers.
Looks like your wife will have to persevere with learning English.

Good Luck.

Thank you for that I have just shown Nongkhan it is good but does not give enough information. Her driving instructor has said she is ready for her theory test however it is the understanding of the questions that is causing difficulty.

valiant,
I found that the drivers around Stoke are a similar standard to Thai drivers :(
Maybe because a fair majority are Poles,Sri Lankans,Afghans and Iraqis !
So maybe your wife wont find it as hard to learn as you think ! :D

This I find astounding that there is no way for the UK authorities to help in this matter. I recently had to take a friend to a London hospital and was looking at one of the forms he had to complete and with it was a leaflet saying it could be translated into about 30 languages if required.
I would have thought that with something as important as a driving test and highway code they would have something available. Or is it because they do not want any more drivers on our roads!!!

I know this is a Korean woman and her theory test and driving, but there is always light at the end of a tunnel... either that or some mouldy, rotting vegetables that should of been sold 4 years ago!

Maybe it's more of a "Your in our country, learn our language." sort of deal. Looking at the practical side, if the government translated all their documents into the hundreds of different languages and dialects to accommodate the immigrants then, they would have to translate the tests and have people that could read and understand to administer the tests. The cost of your driver's license would go through the roof.

Seems logical to me . If she can't read the test paper how on earth will she read the traffic signs? Should they all be in multifarious languages?

valiant,
When myself and my Thai wife lived in Newcastle-under-Lyme for a couple of years she got free English lessons (reading and writing etc.) at Cauldon Campus in a leafy suburb of Stoke-On Trent called Shelton !
Might be worth looking into for your missus.....two nights a week 6pm to 8pm.

Thank you Zidane. Nongkhan is currently at Burslem College which is part of Cauldon College she has taken her ESOL'S and now has Indefinite leave to remain however some of the questions are hard to understand. Do you originate from this neck of the woods.

A true story. My first Thai wife had a Thai driving license but wanted a Uk one for insurance purposes . She took lessons with a local driving school that used Ford Fiesta cars. Well the first test she failed , so after extra tuition she took it again. After the obligatory hour driving around she got back to the test center in the little Fiesta, sat in it for a few minutes talking to the examiner. She had failed again. So she got out saying "I'm not playing this silly game" Got into her own car, a red Toyota Celica sports and stormed out of the test center, gears revving .The examiners face was a picture, he had never experienced a Thai woman before .I hastily explained she had a Thai license and it was perfectly legal for her to drive . Happlily after cooling down she took the test again and passed. I think that poor guy is still having nightmares about Thai women drivers .

I actually come from Macclesfield where I lived most of my life, also lived in Wilmslow and Bollington.
After I got divorced I moved for a few years to Newcastle-under-Lyme,splitting time between there and Thailand.
I lived on an estate called Westbury Park.Do you know it ? Very handy for the M6,and the job I had then and the A500 for the Brittania Stadium or Hanley.
There was a couple of decent Thai restaurants in 'Castle called the Art of Siam and the Blue Chilli. My wife did a bit of waitressing in both at weekends, ocassionally.Gave her a chance to meet and mix with people from her own country.

Anyway, good luck to Nongkhan at college and learning to drive ! 8)
