Cargo Transport

Post by sappiajk » August 9, 2006, 7:17 pm

I have a few items in Bangkok I need to get transported up to Udon Thani. Primarily a washing machine and dryer. Any one know a company that can bring those items up for me to Udon. Also, perhaps there is a way to send it on a freight train. I cant find any information on the internet so I have no clue how to process. Any help appreciated.

The easiest way surely would be to throw them in the back of a pick-up ?
1000 baht per day for rental if you don't own one yourself and about 1000 -1500 max for diesel.

 You obviously mean "each way" Paul... unless your truck runs on the smell of an oily rag!?

I was thinking the easiest way would be to rent a truck here and drive down and get it, but didnt feel like making that trip. I guess there arent many other options. Thanks

Sappiajk,

There are transport companies that would transport items from Bangkok to Udon, if you don't want to drive yourself.

I am not particularly knowledgable on this subject, but I believe there are some transport companies located on the Eastern ring road in Udon.

I have previously enquired about this and kept a copy of a reply courtesy of Jingjai, which I have copied below and hope may be of some help:
Mr Neng
About a year ago, he was moving someone from/to the BKK area, and wanted me to drive one of the trucks or one of the cars being moved. Since I didn't need the money, I passed on the experience As I have posted before, you can find him early morns at City Lodge and he has his # posted on the BB there. Speaks english, german, & thai. I guess a jack of all trades

I used a Udon company called The Move (how original), their office is located on the west side of the ring road between Big C and Global. They charged me 10,000 baht from Jomtien to Udon, plus I paid for labor to load and unload, around 1200 baht total. You will have to find your own workers in Phuket, they only sent down the truck and driver. Big truck (lorrie), I moved a full household. Everything arrived in working order, a few minor scrapes and scuffs on some rattan pieces I have. A friend used them locally here in Udon, no complaints. I was happy with their service. 09-944-1300, 06-630-7871, 05-001-3950, or 01-544-9919. They don't speak English, so you will need a Thai speaker to arrange the details. Reliable, they showed up at the prearranged date and time. They asked for a two thousand baht deposit, balance payable on delivery.
Note Jingjai was moving a full household. Though I am sure as they were a transport company they would transport whatever you want.

I think they also had some small and medium size trucks.
Also, another moving/freight company is Khun Batdee, 042-241-813, 01-369-8896.

I have a Thai friend in Bangkok that might be interested in a hauling job.He is the son of our best Thai friends in Bangkok. He helped us move somethings to Nong Khai from Bangkok 2 years ago.His charge was 3000 baht to us ,I gave him 4000 Baht. But as I say ,the family and us are close. He hauls meat everyday from Bangkok to where ever.I was worried that our stuff would smell like meat, but he cleaned his truck somehow and there was absolutely no smell on our stuff!
I am not sure he would be interested or not. They do not speak any English,so if your interested, all arraignments have to be done in Thai.Gas has doubled since then,so I,m sure the cost would be higher.Just for comparison,at the time I moved,I got 2 quotes,One was 10,000 the other was 8000.If you are interested,PM me and I will try to put you in contact.
