Taxi from Udon to BKK
If everything works out ,I will arrive by taxi from BKK in the morning of December 3.rd.
I have been using this service for the past 5 years. The car usually returns empty.
If someone needs a safe and comfortable ride to BKK that day PM me .I usually pay TBH 5000 for the trip.

Why not use Thai Air, faster and less expensive and after 5 years you must know the road pretty well

I know the OP is about using a cab, but I would be rather concerned about whether it is possible to discover a car owner who could stay conscious and effectively aware for such a lengthy trip through the evening so they can securely mix it with all the long-distance vehicle and trainer motorists.

And Thai Air is less than half the price of a taxi, and both Nok Air and Air Asia are cheaper than Thai Air.udonthani wrote:Mobaan wrote:If everything works out ,I will arrive by taxi from BKK in the morning of December 3.rd.

Also, travelling by plane are much safer than cars in Thailand.

I tend to leave all that unwanted baggage behind when I come to Thailand.

Fly business class with Thai to Udon, they wont charge you excess baggage with a business ticket, it will be cheaper than a taxi and only take an hour.

I think his problem is that he probably arrives after the last flight to Udon of the day. Certainly I tend to use t
Thai air to Udon these days if still a flight available - and they don't seem to care if you have 30kg of baggage, no excess charge. if arriving after 6:30 pm in Bangkok I use the airport bus from the transport centre to udon - cheaper and i would say safer than a taxi.

It doesn't matter why Mobaan chooses to travel by Taxi, the post is about the offer of a return trip if anyone is interested.

Will report back in a week or so when everything is said and done .
So - there will be no taxi returning to BKK !!!!!!

Hi,
Flew business class to Udon from BKK. baggage was over 20K, mine was 25.2K., so it was better to go this way. Thai stated at the time anything over 20K will be charged excess, In business class anything over 25K will be charged excess. You could be lucky and get through without being charged excess, it could also work the other way.
By the way Nok. and A.A. now go from the old airport D.M.. The way A.A. is going you will soon have to pay to use the toilet.
By the way if i go down to swampy by car i take the mountain route. Shorter and no tolls and does not go into BKK. goes right passed swampy. It is the 304 highway from Korat. Great views if travelling in the daytime.

Many years ago returning from Thailand on Thai from BKK to LHR we had to pay over 15,000 Baht excess baggage (can't remember how much overweight we were) – it was for the massive amount of Thai food my wife was carrying in our suitcases.
My wife had been told (an urban legend) that Thai would not charge excess baggage to a Thai person.
She is quite meticulous about baggage weight these days.

On the Thai domestic flight from Udon to Bangkok that connected to the international flight on Thai I mentioned above we were not charged any excess baggage - but as I said that was some years ago.

Never been charged when coming or going to the States and was overweight for the domestic legs.
I was always told, "Show ticket for international portion" if they want to charge you domestically.
