Boxtel accomodation

Post by Barney » June 4, 2016, 9:45 am

On my last fly in I stayed at the new Boxtel accommodation rooms at swampy airport.
Little expensive but a godsend for me in my situation as my flight from China have changed and I arrived over an hour earlier than usual at about midnight. First fight BKK to UT was 7.30.
I did not book anything as I usually just sit around the airport for 5 hours.
O level 2 I approached the accommodation counters and all 3 were 1300 for a short time hotel near the airport. Seemed that negation was not available and didn't seem tocare that I was not going to pay that. I have got rooms previously for about 700 bht.
Walked down to the train station and booked a Boxtel cube and had a very pleasant 5 hour sleep. No need to waste 2 hours on travel to and from by a hotel bus.
Won't suit all but a quiet area and use of the airport toilets is adjacent.
Would recommend for a quick laydown and kip. Beds very clean and comfy.
Was an hourly rate and walk up request was less then I have now seen on hotel booking sites. I think I paid about 1400 bht.

Barney I use one 10 minutes each way from Swampy with the free Hotel shuttle bus. 600 baht a night and with a nightcap from the local seven/eleven in my room I get a great night's kip and if the flight is not too early in the morning a breakfast thrown in as well. Too numerous Hotels around swampy provide this service at decent prices.
Here's tae us, wha's like us, damn few, and they're a' deid. Mair's the pity!

Appreciate that Socksy.
I usually book something aswell but was caught out with a time change of flight and just advising others of a facility in the airport which is available. It is not something I would normally use. As I say a bit expensive but, it is there if needed and a good clean place. Better than trying to sleep on the benches waiting for check in if you don't mind paying
When I say the 2 hour out and return I mean a total time of driving, booking in and getting to sleep checking out and driving back. I was in bed in 20 mins. No night cap or massage offer.
I only had 5 hours before checkin.

Waanjai why be a dick head and make out the accommodation is crap by posting that ridiculous photo, it is nothing like either of the short time sleeping beds at either swampy or don muang.

I used to stay at Silver Gold Garden when QANTAS had an arrival time close to midnight. About 700 baht with free transfer both ways. Not a luxury hotel but clean and quiet.

Boxtel accomodation

Most international airports have a similar set up these days. I would prefer to take a free shuttle to a nearby hotel (B600-700 per night), have my nightcap from 7/11, enjoy a lie in and the complimentary breakfast and then take the midday flight to Udon from Swampy. This works great unless you miss you teerak too muth and have to be there ASAP.

Just my thoughts but thanks for posting Barney.

PS. My snoring would probably result in me being evicted from the boxtel anyway. :sleepy:

I have read descriptions of them elsewhere as well Barney and the way they were described seemed more like a room the size of an apartment in a complex in Udon. The one's in the photographs shown look more like a Morgue and I think I'd have nightmare's and fearing that I'd wake up next to a 'stiff'.
