Leaving car near Suvarnabhumi

Post by samster » July 18, 2023, 4:05 pm

I'm going back to the UK next month and fancied a quick holiday with the missus on the way down to BKK and on the way back.

It would mean taking our car and, in my naivety, I thought it would be a simple request to ask a couple of the major resorts near the airport to keep my car (for a fee) whilst I'm away on the basis that I'd be staying there the night before travel and the night I arrive back. One I know for a fact has a huge car park so I thought would be no issue.

Seems not as the request seems to dumbfound them. Anyone got any experience of this or can recommend somewhere?

There is a long-term parking with shuttle bus

Hotels have disclaimers against damage or theft while you are a guest. Leaving your car there based on a couple of nights stay is risky. They won't have insurance if something happens and your own insurance may struggle with leaving your car fundamentally parked up in public.

Long term airport parking is secure and 140 baht/day.

Curious so I went looking to see if any of my hotel elite status programs offer extended free parking. Hyatt is the only one that I could find that offers free parking but is is limited to the US and only while you stay using points. Hilton, Marriott and IHG didn't mention parking deals that I could find.

Then I found this that may interest you:

Tamada's suggestion is likely cheaper in the long run but it may be worth a peak.

Not really answering the question but I know that Amari hotel at DM offer this service. Free parking as long as you stay the night before you depart. No idea if any restrictions but I know a few people who have done it.

Thanks guys.

Nothing available via the links suggested so, I'm guessing that it's not doable. I've done it many times in the UK previously but, guessing it's not something that the Thais want or need.

One of the resorts I tried was Summit near the airport. I know they have a secure parking lot which is usually empty and they provide a shuttle service to the airport so, assumed they would be happy to facilitate for a charge for 2 paying guests. Wrong.

I've found a parking lot near the airport that offers long stay parking at a fraction of the cost of the long stay parking at Suvarnabhumi so, if I decide to go down this route, I'll report back on how efficient it is. Might just bin the idea of a holiday and fly down to BKK.
